I have had several people tell me X pipes really help and others say they just help the exhaust sound smoother. I have a slightly built 440 and with the 40 series flow master sounds real good but have been told it would run better and sound better with an x pipe. What is your experiance and is it worth the monet?

I've been told by experts here on this site that they do make a difference in performance. I believe an article was posted here with test runs/pulls made with both "H" pipe and "X" pipe on a 440 or Hemi, can't remember. The results were significant thou. I'm going with them. :yesnod:

H-pipes are better than nothing and X-pipes are better than H-pipes. They equalize the pressure, quiet the interior of the car and create more horsepower by making the exhaust flow better.

It has been dyno proven that x-pipes will increase both hp and tq

My Charger came with no scavange pipe at all. I couldn't think straight when I was traveling anywhere. I had an "X-pipe" installed and I carried on a conversation with my daughter at 70MPH with the windows down. I can not believe the difference in the cabin noise. The car felt lighter on its feet with part throttle inputs and had all the noise of before out back. just do it. You will never look back.

I am not a fan of X-Pipes.  I don't like the exhaust note with x-pipes (too tinnee)!  It also can make drive shaft loops a challenge to install.

The "tinnee" sound you speak of.....what size engine?  I picked up the complete TTI set-up from the e manifolds to the tail, x-pipe, mandrell bends.  I've got a 440 going in later in the year, and I hope the cubes and flow will still provide the classic mopar sound, with a little more drivablilty.

I've noticed the tinney sound more with the mustangs. I have an X-pipe on my 383 Charger and don't notice any tinney sound. It just doesn't gargle like a straight pipe, glass pack car. Do not be afraid. You will love the sound out back, but be able to talk to someone inside the car.
