I needed skins for the rear of my '72. Both in front of and behind my wheels was rusted enough to need some metal. I found some patch panels for behind from Jim's Auto Parts for $189 each. I still needed metal for the front of the rear wheels and all I could find was some half panels from American Muscle Car. I bought both sides for $169 each plus $117 for shipping. AMD was not going to have them available for another six months...maybe.

The panels from Jim's looked great. They were coated in a protective paint and had what appeared to be the correct shape. The ones from American Muscle Car however looked horrible. My body guy told me they were crap. They had very little shape and the contours were not correct. They were also discolored and had no decent coating to keep them protected. Because they were so inexpensive and the shipping was so high, we decided that he would cut the panels to get the metal he needed. I didn't have much of a choice otherwise.

So unless you need some generic metal, I'd be very careful of American Musclecar.

I used a couple AMD parts and was amazed by the fit however I ran into the long lead times issue on the quarter panels as well.  After a bit of research I decided on Goodmark for the quarter panel and was pleased with the fit as well as the quality of the finish.  We'll see how it all comes together when the doors are hung and properly gapped.  From my experience the '71 & '72 are tough to find...   Good luck with your project!
