I know, all I need is another project at my house. I have a friend who is selling his 74 Duster (very good solid body) but it has an inline 6 cyl in it. I have a 74 Valiant (not scamp, but same body) with the 318. The Valiant has major front end probs, I want to yank out the 6 & put the 318 in the Duster. Dosent this sound easily do-able? They are both A bodies, with alot of interchangable parts, the Duster just looks way beefier. Im not giving up on my 68 Charger, but my son will need a car when he comes back in 2 years, & I want to do my part to make him a Mopar guy (I think he's already sold to be honest) Any insight? ???

Very do-able.

Between both cars you should have everthing you need.

So easy you should be done with it by now!

I think you will also have to swap out the k-frames also.........

Yes, to go from a slant 6 to a V8 you need to swap K-Frames, or Schumaker makes the conversion motor mounts so you don't have to. They aren't too cheap & you already have the frame, so unless it's damaged, I'd use it.

OK, update, couldnt get the Duster started last Saturday, but it does turn over real good. I dont think I'm getting gas into the carb, as I didnt see any in the bowl,  but it is getting to the carb. What makes me think I've got no spark though is the ammount of ether I put into the carb...it does have a new resistor & coil though...I'd really rather drive it home rather than put it onto the trailer (is a 74 Duster wider than a 2nd gen Charger?) I've also never dealt with a 3 on the tree tranny (swapping out etc.) the last one I even drove was an old Ford pickup in the early 80's for a company truck. Can I mate this 3 spd right up with the 318 from the other Valiant? Or I guess I could just swap out tranny & engine together...The Duster now has the slant 6 with 3 on tree, the Valiant now has the 318 & automatic. I just like the Dusters looks better....

Let the opinions commence.....

Hey Capt. ,, I am not 100% sure on this, but I think I read somewhere that the center link is different from a slant 6 and a V-8 car. This is something you may want to check into.. I think they will interchange, but I believe I read that the V-8 car has a dip in the center of the link. It's kind of dumb if true in my opinion.. Why have both??  :eyes:
