What makes it an SE?

I think my car originally came with a 383 4 bbl 4 speed with manual brakes and manual steering and 4 wheel drum brakes and a buddy seat. I would think a SE would have at least power steering and brakes?

You could get a Charger SE which was a mix of sport and luxury that had all of the standard Charger features plus leather and vinyl bucket seats, simulated woodgrain steering wheel, deep-dish wheel covers, hood-mounted turn signal indicators, simulated woodgrain instrument panel, and the light group option. Also I think the pedal dress up kit. (This may not be comprehensive)

Interesting, mine had/ has a green steering wheel, and the woodgrain instrument panel. Not sure about the rest, the car was less than complete when I got it.

If it is a SE it should have the wood-grain steering wheel (lots of things chance in 40+ years).
Power steering & brakes would add another $150 to the total cost.
on a '69 Charger the SE "package" A47 was basically an interior "upgrade" that included:

Good info!
My car was so stripped, other than the SE emblems and wood grain dash (well just the one over the cluster, other stuff was MIA)
It didn't even have a gas pedal

did yours have any evidence of a light group ,  even if all were missing  , you would of had yards & yards of yellow door pin switch wiring under the dash  :yesnod:

other than the SE emblems

Are these on the sail panel? If so then yes, It was built as a SE.

Mine is also an SE, has PS, PB, light group, DD wheel covers, 383 2. Had the woodgrain dash, leather seats and AC

No emblems, they were replaced with the standard Charger ones, no fender tag either

The SE was a trim package so it's primarily just appearance items with badges and light group thrown in.  Power brakes were one of those options for building the basic car.  Have to remember that it isn't like today where you are forced to buy option "groups" and the basic car has power everything.  Back then you could actually order the car as you wanted it. :o

As far as wiring goes, the genius I bought the car from many moons ago had an electrical fire at some point so he decided to rewire the entire car with all the same color wiring. The stock hood was replaced with a fiberglass hood with a 6 pack scoop on it. Also while driving it in a winter storm (yes he was driving it in the winter in the early 90's) he slid off the road and hit a guardrail and bashed in the passenger side fender and frame and grill. I guess other than the wood grain dash part and SE emblem on the quarter that's all I had.

Shouldn't be horribly hard to reality check, lay in trunk, feel up on inside roof sail panel area where the Charger emblem or SE would be.  The width between holes or filled in holes should tell you.  Most other SE options can be hung on or removed from a car (without a build sheet or fender tag)

Old quarters had the SE holes and the emblem. New quarters have holes and new emblems  :icon_smile_big:

Tough call then, but hey, you have a 69 Charger and that part is undeniable!

Like mentioned the A47 on the fender is the only way to know for sure. If that is gone hard to tell. I have two. My red 70' is an R/T S.E. loaded with every option minus the sun roof. My other 70' is a 500 S.E. with a 318 originally & only had power steering, power brakes as options besides the A47 package.
