I believe it is his process versus utilizing a 3rd party product that he makes better? I actually chatted with him Saturday on the phone ( He lives about 8 miles from me ). He told me to tell everyone here that if there are ANY questions on the products or installation of products to always give him a call. If he doesn't answer, leave a message and he'll call back. That is how Saturday's chat came to be; me researching about parts for a potential Superbird trade ( that fell through )........ His parts have much greater detail and I believe strength via his method of creation.

So he sub-contracts is economy line out ? I don't understand why anyone that make nice stuff would offer lesser quality items that can degrade a brand ?  what does the 1495 have that the 795 doesn't ?

Hello David and good speaking to you the other day. Interesting story on the Bird and Charger and I am sure it will make a good one on TV. I got on Charger.com. for the first time for a while. Good stuff.

I ran across this one:

If you are still registered can you post a reply to the guy and simply ask him to call me. All of my Factory Equivalent Line of Parts come with unlimited technical assistance as always on how to put it all together. A simple phone call to me will simplify his project of how to put it together. The lip he is talking about is the reinforcing lip under the package tray lip of the plug. This needs to be trimmed. It is left long intentionally because it is not intended to be trimmed until the installer does a few of the other preliminary steps first to ensure optimum fitting. Please post for him to call me. 281/379-2828. Thanks David. Ted

I don't need any help for sure on how it goes together , are the parts the same or maybe layed up differently for the economy line to the as  orig line ? Forget the tech line which I don't need is there a difference from the $ 795 and the $ 1495 side by side ?   I guess Ill have to ask before I order one

graybo

I have purchased both.  Fender scoops, fiberglass hood, latch tray, wing.   I ended up going with his upgraded scoops, got rid of the hood for a steel on with his extension, modified the wing by strengthening it with rosin and fiber matting, and went with a steel latch tray.  All of his stuff will work....just takes some extra extra work for the production line stuff.  Just my experience for what its worth. :shruggy:

daytonalo

Thanks ! I  can clearly see going with a steel latch tray , valence and so on but can anyone inform what I get for 795 vs 1495 in a nose ?

graybo

On the nose cone????  I can't really say.  I bought one of TJs better nose cones from Ray in Arizona that he did not use.  The nose cone is very solid and matches all the steel parts I put in it ( steel buckets, frame extensions,z brackets, latch tray, etc...)  I basically put all steel componets into his FG hood and have had no real problems.  Fit pretty nice and is very solid.  I don't know what his "cheaper" nose is like...but again...I guess it is up to you if you want to pay the extra cheese... Good luck. :popcrn:

daytonalo

maybe the 795 part is layed up by a Dyslectic chimp and the 1495 one ted takes control ?  :icon_smile_big:

I believe it is to offer a lower cost option to those that can't afford the high end...... it's one of the reasons I buy Craftsman products instead of Snap-On....... A wrench is a wrench.... Or is it?

I asked him to supply mancave parts he said he did a superbird couch .But I wanted a nosecone mailbox or light to hangover pool table or a garage wall hanger. But he cant saying if me made thin lay up parts for that use .It would end up being used for cars not the intended purpose of just display parts. But he sent me a fender scoop with no studs or bosses .Works for on the desk or a candy dish

Howie

I got one of his lower quality noses a while back and it did not have as many plys and not built as sturdy as the wing I got from him last year.  I got a steel nose from a friend of mine in Wa for my nascar project but ended up ordering a 1400 nose from Ted cause I wanted the working headlights. HotRod has my nascar nose cause he wants to chop it and make a FF daytona project.  So ya get more plys and a better part.  Hows that???????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

daytonalo

I think your trying to convey that he has one layup schedule for the 795 and different one for the 1495 . Having 30 years around fiberglass this should be interesting , ill find out

hotrod98

His premium nose is much thicker and fits much better. The mounts for the z braces are integrated into the fiberglass and are much sturdier. The headlamp area is better and the headlamp buckets fit better. Seems like he told me that his son was making the lightweight versions and they are made like the original noses that he started making in the beginning. Seems like he told me that he wants actual measurements from your car before he makes the premium nose for you. Been a while since I've talked to him.

Yes that is what he does. I had to make a full template of the fender edge across the hood and down the fender.  and send it to him. when I received my kit I  I trial fit and it fit great . The materials are premium to reduce warping and shrinkage during curing. My friend that lays up ski boat hulls said it was "real nice work. ":

Material wise - one xtra layup amounts to about 10 bucks. $ 5. for the yard of 1-2oz matt and rest for the resin .What exactly are ' premium materials' ? fiberglass is fiberglass. Only diff might be poly resin vs vinylester..another $10. If you have a good mold and let it cure normally it'll be fine.

daytonalo

Exactly !!! I asked a vendor once about using Vinyl-ester he said it cost too much , no shit but it far out performs GP resin .
My main concern is , does nose have proper headlight area flange , is the contour correct , if not I buy another stinger and tweak to fit .

djcarguy

will diff show in pix or just fit an finish??/  any pixs installed?? :popcrn: :popcrn: :drool5:
