Nothing hurts more than seeing any muscle car (especially a Charger) with 19"or 22"s. leave them for the "pimp my ride" crew. don't have as big a prob with style & size on Daytona Guy or NYCmille. If I were going aftermarket, thats the way to go...their Chargers look awesome but I'll stick with stock for now.

I've never seen Magnum 500's come stock on a 69 Charger. Thought the only wheels available in 69 were the steel wheels and the regular magnums. I took the stock 14" magnums off of my runner and put 15" 500's on it last year. Had to get rid of those stock wheels.
I could swear that all Magnum 500's were actually Phord wheels. If you're going to scream stock...go stock and put those 14" magnums
back on. lol

Well, I can't imagine that many people would complain about something that came stock on a car.  "Ooh, that's so riced-out, using stock rims and all."  Schwinn rims don't look like they could take much in the rough terrain category.  Plus they look scrawny and distract from the look of nice body lines.  That's why they only belong on modern cars, which have no body lines (well, they have straight lines).  Bicycle tires just look way out of place on a car (or truck, for that matter).

To each his own, and I don't go picking fights with guys who do things that I don't like on their cars, but i find the notion that anyone could complain about stock-sized rims kind of absurd.  It would be the equivalent of painting a naked guy on the side of your car and then picking on people who don't have naked men painted on the side of their car.  It would be a weird complaint.

You just did a great job of proving my point, Thanks

"to each his own" as long as it's what you like.  Now excuse me, I have to go to the autobody shop with my naked man proofs.  If all goes well, I will be cruising with my "schwinn wheels" and some guys dong on the side of my car by the weekend.

Hmmm. One would expect something a little more profound to cause the resurrection of a 6 1/2 year old thread. :shruggy:

Your right, i was busy looking at archives last night & forgot to check the date of the post. I just like to see period correct wheels on the classics. Imagine back in the 70's if someone rolled out of the garage with 22's.

It's not the '70's anymore.
There are LOTS of members on this board that have larger than 14/15" wheels since this thread was created.  :yesnod:

As mentioned, it all depends on the type of wheel, offset, & tire size chosen. Tire size is crucial if you want to avoid the "rubber-band" look.

Imagine my surprise when I got an email on the iPhone his afternoon telling me somebody replied to a thread I did not even remember starting.  I had to log back into the site just to see what the Hell was going on.

Well it is good to see that even way old things do not get deleted around here.

:iagree:  Boy do I know where you're coming from.
I once saw a Cuda completely butchered in order to fit 20" mags. Can you believe that anyone would cut into the guards to make them fit.

Hey "Model maker".... Whats with the wierd photo of the dude? No shirt, gut hanging out? Talk about poor taste!
This is a totally subjective topic. I think that there are limits to what looks right on any car. I chose to go with THE 18" wheels because I wanted wide, low profile tires for handling performance. I also wanted the tops of my tires to hide up in the body while still leaving enough ground clearance to avoid scraping on speed bumps. I dont care if OTHER people like them.

IIRC, your ride looks pretty good.  Of course I don't remember rubber bands for tires either.

I like Bill's sublime '69 as well.  Very tastefully done.

Amish Racing Performance makes them.

You'll have to mail them a letter, they have no web site for ordering. :scratchchin:

dkn1997, I've been trying to find those wheels but haven't had any luck.  I think those are the wheels Red 70 R/T 493 has.

Do you have a thread telling about the specs. for the wheels/tires?

Kern Dog

Our wheels DO look similar, but mine have spokes that are twisted slightly and the centers are a matte finish.

I found Intro Wheels so I'm getting somewhere.

I think I'll go new set of shoes instead of the bug catcher.  Maybe later.

Wow, I've been away for about a year but I remember when this thread was new, over 6 years ago!

I'm actually debating on putting 17" Mach 1 wheels from an 03-04 Mach 1 on my 69 Mach. For the charger, its the stock 14" Magnums. I do need some meatier tires as the ones right now are just for rolling the car. It really depends on the type wheel used. Any higher than 20' and I think it detracts from the look of the older cars.
