Apparently, there is a difference between the 68-69 secondary hood latch.

(69 on the car, 68 in my hand)

Interesting...I would say that as many times that Ive gouged my head on my '68, I would probably have received stitches if I owned a '69... :smilielol:

 Usually after the first gouge I remember to put the tennis ball over it again.
Didn't know the length was different, which in turn means the rest of the latch hardware or mount detail is also different.

Nailed mine a couple times and did the same trick with a tennis ball.

I didn't know either there was a difference.  I checked my parts and I had both.

I'm getting close to that stage.  I swear that spot on my head is softer and thinner than it is anywhere else.

This is not fair.  I read the post this morning and after thinking about posting an "oh 69's got longer ones" reply, decided against it because it did not do justice to our cars. Then later in the day I clipped my head pretty good not once, but twice, when working on my car .
Who in their right mind would say

"The science should not stand in the way of this."?

Science is just observation and hypothesis.  Policy stands in the way.........

Or maybe it protects us.

I suppose it depends on the specific case.....

Yes, just another of the many improvements they made going from the 68 starter model to the 69 glory.

Just to throw a wrench into this whole deal. I looked at my late 69 R/t and it has a short one......

I removed mine while it's being worked on. For that reason alone of hitting your head on it. Not that much of a big deal to install it once it's ready to hit the road, zip two bolts on and you're ready to go. It's kinda automatic for me if a certian old Mopar is going to be in my garage for a while and not being daily driven. It's one of the first things I'll do is remove that dagger of a hood latch. To me it's kinda like the same effect of how folks will remove the negative battery cable in which I do that as well.

Yep seen the differences ,
Also very similar on challengers,
Was one part of thousands that I had to search for , and found out all the differences,  :2thumbs:
