My 71 charger, 383 big block, auto- stumbles/backfires (pops) thru carb during acceleration while driving.  Any suggestions on a fix?

I just got it back from shop after a 3 year restoration.  I'm assuming there is an issue with timing.  Thanks for the tips.

Have you given the shop a call regarding this issue?  I would explore that route first before tampering with things.

As others said, backfires are a timing or firing order issue.

750 eddy too big on a 383. would have better luck with a 600 eddy carb on there. Check your spark plugs and see if they are all black!! The 750 eddy carbs are not really a good carb. If a 750 is a must you will be better off with a holley 3310 or a 4779. Just speaking from experience with the 383's that I have owned and rebuilt for other's. They tend to be more responsive with a smaller cfm carb (600/650) unless it is built up more like a strip engine and not a closer to stock street engine.
