Here's an overpriced Charger grille  :eek2:

I would MAYBE pay that if I was restoring a #'s matching R/T car, and the entire grille had been restored already...  :Twocents:

EDIT:Fixed link

You're missing my cynical sense of humor - I was suggesting that the only good, valuable part left on the car is the Grille - so that's what you're actually paying for :)

Well, I suppose I could have titled it "68 Charger Grille and Tic-Toc Tach for only $9500!  Act now and get 3500 lbs of scrap Detroit steel at no extra charge!"

Not quite as much but here is one that is actually just the grille in case anyone here wants to overpay for a 68 grille.

In fairness, that price is so bad that it is almost worth mentioning twice

Worth $3,200? Probably. Worth $9,500? No way. Did he pull his offer of including the new sheet metal to get the price to $3,200? I'd probably tell him to keep his sheet metal anyway.

This line is a doozy: "I spent a lot of time and money trying to save this car so please serious buyers only." Come on, man. Time and money? Moving a car on a trailer 2-3 times does not constitute a lot of time and $2k in mail order sheet metal is a drop in the bucket. This kind of clown has no concept of time and money.

the 3200$ is a completely different unit for sale in Canada

What's the point in doing that?

ACUDANUT

What's the point of not telling him ?.  It's like denying a "special person" a needed education.

What was I thinking?

hatersaurusrex

To his credit - I'd probably put it up at around 10 grand to see if I got a bite too.  I gave like 8K for my completely ragged out non R/T POS, but I figured if I'm going to sink 40-60K into a restomod, paying 4-5K over what the car was worth was really a drop in the bucket in the big picture.  Or at least that's what I'm telling myself after I'm 30K in with a loooong way to go :)

After all, the one piece you need for a resto is the car itself.   The part I laugh at with this guy is he's trying to justify the price of the car by talking about how much time and money he's spent - I bet he practically stole it from the guy after working on him for years to get him to unhorse it (time) and then he dropped 2K on the panels (money) and realized 'holy shit, I'm still at least 20K from having a decent driver - and I'm totally out of time and money'
