The new car can't deliver the same cool no matter how much the ads tell you otherwise.

Looks like a low budget Earl Scheib resto was done to that one from the mistakes I seen on it :brickwall: :shruggy: :slap: LEON.

if you factor in inflation, charger prices are right back to 2005 levels if not higher. $25k in 2005 got you a pretty decent R/T car, or a super nice 318 or 383 charger. Today that same(now probably $30k or so) gets you a pretty nice 318 or 383 charger, and maybe an R/T needing a little work. The asking prices at the top are not selling prices or 2005 prices, but rather let's go fishing prices.

Maybe 2005 wasn't the right year. I recall during the peak seeing all kinds of non badge 2nd gens priced in the 40k range and r/t's 50k+ range in the hemmings motor news. Many projects priced at 20k or more. Was pre AMD.

Love the engine compartment wiring harness, especially were it runs along the RH valve cover. Nice zip tie wire harness exposing every single wire to the heat :smilielol: :smilielol: :smilielol:

$25k in 2005 is somewhere north of $40k today.  The official govt inflation data is heavily rigged to downplay the damage.

I can't see ever selling mine. Unless it's stupid money. I wouldn't have sold any of the mopars I've had if I'd known. Also once you sell its really hard to get back in.

Yup.  Friend of mine sold his beautiful '72 Nova SS and has done nothing but cry about it since...

At a certain point, people are going to start to factor in how much enjoyment their money is buying them.  Are they interested in bragging to their friends how much they spent (or have to spend) or are they interested in what driving value they get for their money?  It's getting harder to defend spending 65-75 large for a car that runs the 1/4 in 13.5-14.5 seconds stops just above average, has no A/C and gets 12 MPG when you can go get a new(er) car that runs 12's or lower, has a 5 million watt stereo, has A/C, nice seats for our ever expanding asses and has a warranty.
Just my two cents.. and yes I DEARLY love the old cars, but at a certain point you gotta start to ask......

Back in 2008 I was thinking about buying another 1970 Challenger, then I drove the new Challenger.....
As a daily driver the new Challenger won hands down....as you grow older your priories change....

I have two old Chargers that I love, but sometimes it's nice to just cruise down the street with the radio playing and the AC on.......
1970 Daytona Charger SE "clone" (440/Auto)
1967 Charger (360,6-pak/Auto)
2008 Challenger SRT8 BLK (6.1/Auto) 6050 of 6400

And there is a cool factor to the new challengers almost as good as the old mopars.  They go just as fast if not faster than any of the oldies, they have plenty of comfort and modern sound and conveniences, I enjoy my heated seats even in Florida.

And my 2010 with just the 5.7L is as fast as the old charger is.  Even if the lines of a charger are superior, the challenger has plenty of presence on the street, and gets tons of attention.
