Anyone know if reproduction scoops, preferably; double sided tape mount, are available?  Thanks

A383Wing

no...the edges of the scoop is too thin for tape to hold it to the door...plus the scoop is too heavy for tape

Thanks for your help. Are there reproduction stud mounted units available?

bill440rt

I believe the repro units are stud mounted. If not, it should be fairly simple to bond studs to the backsides of them.

BTW, only two of the holes used studs. The other were metal push clips.

I would not drill into the doors and ruin a pair of nice doors. :Twocents:

Thanks for the info. From what vendor are reproduction scoops available.  Haven't seen anything from Year One, Classic Industries, etc..

A383Wing

Year One was the last vendor that I saw have them, but that was a while ago

If you want to cut off the studs and use double back tape only use 3m white colored double side tape,# 06381.  This tape is what is used close to factory on their side door moldings. This is all we use at our body shop as the black or grey just dosent hold up. before you use it  and if theirs no way you can avoid the sides being seen just rattle can the sides of the roll black or even body color.

Make sure car is very clean use wax and grease on car and then wipe scoop surface with virgin lacquer thinner- acetone or MEK.  and that the door and scoop surfaces mate exactly.    This white 3m tape is super strong and I would not worry about them ever falling off. If you stik them in the wrong place you wont be able to pull them off.   So make sure you have them exactly in the right spot and press very firmly.    Ive attached hood scoops- spoilers etc without ever a bonding issue.

Thanks for the tip about the 3M tape. I see another member has had the same luck I've had trying to find them on line.
