The price of gas

I went to my local gas stop for my usual $50 cause I was low. (Oregon-- they pump for us here).
I prepaid and was ready to leave when the guy gave me a slip for my change.  WTF---I had to go back in the store and get change back cause my truck would not take $50 worth.
I say they should have left it at 35cents a gal where I started and quit jerking us around like this.
Don't these folks know some of us have our routines and don't need this kind of upset in our lives? :eek2:--

I say enjoy it while it lasts.  I'm close to Ok. and on the news, the oil field workers were complaining of losing money on each barrel and are talking about cutting production.  They claim they need $60/barrel to make it worth while.

Personally, I'm enjoying not having to spend $100 bill when filling up.

I paid 1.89 here in DFW today

Dmichels

1.89 WOW that's cheep  I thought I was doing good at 2.27. I drive about 400 miles a week and the lower gas prices have put an extra $100 in my bank each month. I am sure this is helping the economy and people tremendously.

It's Christmas, time to spend money on presents, not gas. And then there's the New Year for whats coming.

Filled up the daily for $1.96/gallon.  Too bad the Charger didn't need any juice.

that's exactly it. it's all strategy by OPEC (read: the Saudis). They're trying shut down fracking and other forms of extraction by driving the price per barrel below the level that makes them economically viable. If/once they succeed, theyll jack prices back up.

That's where my thoughts went first. The Saudis have been big players in the world oil market and do have influence.  But is this story that simple?  Do they really have the power their oil says they have?
The recent change is kind of spooky.---When something is to good to be true..etc.----
The news is too quiet about it and when one thinks about the enormous amount of money involved it adds to my fur standing up a bit. :shruggy:
If a correction in the price doesn't come soon a correction of some kind will come somewhere else to answer my question. :Twocents:

This has very little to do with running the frackers out.  It's a world oil supply.  If the frackers pump too much the Saudis simply pump less and maintain thier margin and profit.

This thing is some serious Machiavellian economic warfare (Dick Cheney style ninja type s*^t).

First and foremost it spanks Mr. Putin by destroying the Russian currency and oil based economy.

It continues to stress the Iranian economy.   Remember Iran?  They're the guys in the Middle East trying to get the bomb from,,,,,,,,,,,,,oh ya,,,,,,Russia.    And who might be bothered a great deal by a nuclear Iran?  Maybe,,,,,,,Saudi Arabia? :yesnod:

Let's not forget Venezuela.   They get caught I the same net.  But, as a little added bonus, let's rob them of their only communist alley in the Western Hemisphere.   Do you think this weeks Cuba news was a coincidence?  I think not.

Now circle back to the Keystone pipeline.   Does anyone have a non bullshit reason not to do it?  Environmental? Seriously?  There is probably a couple hundred thousand miles of gas and oil pipelines running under the lower 48 right now.  But, we can't have this one.   Really?     Economic?  It's a world oil supply no matter who pumps it.

How about this: hey Saudi Arabia,  aside from that Saddam Hussein we helped you with back in the 90's and a non nuclear Iran, we will drag our feet on this pipeline thing for another decade if you will play.

Okay, I might be reaching a little on the pipeline, but, the rest of this is pretty amazing.  The timing is perfect.  This isn't something that was cooked up last week.  This has been in the works.  It makes me wonder if this why Obama has allowed himself to appear to be Putin's bitch.

In the end, none of this is possible without the energy independence provided to us by,,,,,,,,, fracking.

Enjoyed reading your post :2thumbs:

Pipeline is a pipe dream.  Berkshire Hathaway(Warren Buffet) has a lot vested in the railroad system.  My neighbor is an mechanical engineer for Trinity Industries Inc. here in Dallas.  They build container cars for the railroad shipping industry.  The current wait is is five years for any type of container they offer.  Word on the street is they plan is to utilize the railroad system as the "pipeline."  And Berkshire Hathaway is the main player to lead this when it opens up.
