Remember this seller threatened to part the car out if it didnt make reserve. It didn`t and he is. What is sad is that he didnt bother posting decent pics of the car when he tried to sell it whole.

Usually 1/3rd of the parts go fast, 1/3rd go so-so, and the last 1/3rd they get stuck with.  And, they get to work their tail off for nothing disassembling the car, packaging stuff, posting auctions, answering emails, and making trips to the post office, shippers, etc. (as opposed to selling the car in one piece in the first place).

I saw that the other day. He is a fool if he thinks he will get that kind of money

And this means???  That this guy is a complete tool?   :slap:

And a complete interior for only $2,800.  :icon_smile_blackeye:

I'm glad he is parting it.Gives parts to others in need.Increases the value of those left.It is not all original anyway. If anyone was really that upset about it being torn apart, they would have bought it.And if it were any of you guys selling you would be ticked off being offered less money than you wanted for it.I wouldn't of GIVEN the thing away either.

That retard. Who the heck would part out such a nice car. He probally didnt even try selling it in his local auto trader.
Mopar Or No Car!!!!!!!!

he's gonna end up with a load of junk he cant sell, it'd be easier to sell it for a bit less as a whole, running car
the shell's not gonna be worth much without all the parts
I just got a nice set of those R/T tailights to my door 3500 miles away for less than his buy it now, got a decent rear bumper here in the UK for about $15
if he gets the money piecemeal by selling a bit at a time he'll probably fritter it away, he'll end up with no money and a non running car he cant give away. And whats more he'll be working like a dog to get it  :hah: :image_294343:

Has he sold any of the parts yet?  I notice he hasn't pullled anything yet, hmmmm. :scratchchin:

Hemihead,  my primary issue with this car being parted out is that the guy lacked the smarts to even assemble a reasonably good ebay ad when he tried to sell it whole. Was his $9500 asking price a fair price for the car? who really knows? (i suspect it was not) His crappy ad and grainy distant pictures were what i would expect if i were buying a $400 parts car, not a 10k car. What little info that was in the ad focused on that the car was a show winner 20 years ago (not currently relevant) and the old "I`m going to cut it up if someone doesnt buy it" crap (not relevant)  My beef with him isn`t about the money, its about being stupid. I dont begrudge anyone wanting to get fair market value for their car and or parts.

That's what seemed strange about this car!  He has better pics when parting the car...  :-\  Still too nice a car to part out.

It's one thing to want fair market value for a car but to then throw a tantrum when the market tells you what that fair value actually is, well, that's quite another story isn't it?

Man, that car is really nice! Even though it's sort of mix and matched, it's still definitly not part out material...oh well.

I total agree with Hemihead on this one.

You guys should really know his situation before slamming him.  I never met Walt until yesterday.  I read the posts here and the car caught my interest.  The car is not too far from me so I went to look at it.

Here is his situation:

He is currently out of a job and needs money.  He has a kid and his wife is pregnant.  He was a designer for Rausch Industries. (I received his resume and going to forward it to engineering for the big three.)  It's a really tough time around Michigan due to the Automotive slump and closings of plants.

Why not part it out?  No one stepped up and bought the car.  So now he'll make more money parting it out.  The car is a 318, column shift, no fender tags, or build sheet, and rust through on the rockers. Yes, I believe he'll do better once he parts it out.  He sold the motor out of the car.  It was 72 440 HP motor and was really nice.  It was on a pallet ready to be shipped.  He got a really good money for that.  Look at his auctions for the rear bumper and front bumper.  Those will do really well.

Ok so he might want alot for the interior.  He will separate them if it doesn't sell at $2,800.00.  As you all know, there are several people that would be willing to pay that price.  Figure this:  front and rear bucket seats that are mint, a mint dash pad...not cover, center console, and all interior panels.

I did pick up an extra decklid he had for $40.00.  It was a 71 with cutouts for the spoiler.  I am looking at making him an good offer on other parts.

A car parted out will always supply parts for several others.

twilt

I can certainly understand that .........he has to do......... what he has to do........ because of financial hardship. I would probably do the same thing if i needed to and  thought my family and i would benefit.     However, i think it is reasonable to say that most people really get disgusted when they see "If it doesnt sell......I`m gonna cut it up." ads.   By creating an ad like that when he very ineptly attempted to sell the car whole, he made himself a lightening rod for the criticism.

while I dont care for "tawny gold" I have to say I kind of like the bezels painted to match the car... touch of custom...

the carpet is horrible tho.
