So anyhow, I get to check another model year off my bucket list: 57 Coronet. Needs some floor patches and interior, but is pretty solid. The one hour scrub brush restoration is all it gets for this year, but it did wonders  :icon_smile_big:

Cool looking car! Look at that solid front end. I'm sure people will get out of your way when they see you coming. I can't believe how much nicer it looks after you washed it. The seller could have sold it for twice as much if they would have done the same. lol

Wow what a difference that clean-up made!    I noticed its a two door post (club sedan).  Is it a 325-4bbl Super Red Ram?  The Coronet Lancer models had cleanest two tone treatments without all the extra garbage.  Nice car!  :2thumbs:

Daytona R/T SE

Love it. :coolgleamA:

I'm keeping my eyes open for a '59 hardtop for myself. :Twocents:

I would rather have found a hardtop like everyone else, but the club sedan is cool too. You don't see many. The hardtops get saved and club sedans get used for hardtop parts   I have not decoded this one yet - the original drivetrain is gone with a 440/727 and more modern 8-3/4 axle (not tapered) taking its place. Going through the papers, the 440 seems to have been shoe-horned in there some time between 1988 and 2001.

That would be super cool if it turns out to be one of the hod-rod post cars...

That brings back memories of my first car back in '77. The passenger floor was rusted out on mine with more rust damage over the headlights.

I like those cars good score, are you friends with Jeff Carter?

My Dad's first car when he was sixteen was a 3yr old 1956 Dodge Coronet with a "Super Powered Super Red Ram" (super powered gave you the 4bbl and dual exhaust).  It was rare to have that engine in a base car, and it was a very well loaded Coronet.
Needless to say, it was well known around town....and by some cops, especially when he got a drag racing ticket.  :nono: :drive:

Not me, I'm envious that you found a sedan; my first Mopar was a '57 CHP club sedan and I'd love to have another.

Was that you on the FL forums commenting about the too-wide rear end?
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Turns out the 57 is coded "standard V8" built July 26, 1957 in LA, so that meant the regular 325 I suppose. Your Dads car sounds cool....

I have bought parts from Jeff before but don't really know him. Its been a good long while since I talked to him personally. Chris, AKA TK73 used to live a few blocks from his shop and picked up a fuel sender from him for my 60 Plymouth about 4 years ago.

Haha. Yup. It's a small world. I figured out the answer not too long after asking the question....

Very cool!  That's quite the clean up job you did there.      :2thumbs:

Any interior shots by any chance?   :popcrn:

Not much to look at. The seats, carpet, and headliner are all missing.  It the perfect car for me: With the interior and original drivetrain gone, I can hot rod it and not feel guilty (and blame the previous owners  :icon_smile_wink:  ). Thankfully it does have a complete dash, original steering wheel, cranks and door panels.

Its all tucked in the dry now for a winter slumber with a heater blasting away to cook it dry from the inside out

Very Cool, I have a Custom Royal 4 door sedan waiting in line for garage space. I think the bumper spuds on the custom royals make them the meanest looking cars.

How was the 727 shifter hooked up? Floor shift?
If it ain't broke, fix it 'till it is.

Wow, that Royale looks like a very solid start!
Floor shift looks like it is from a mustang or something. It will be going away in the end.

By the looks of it, someone should start a "Forward Look Car Projects".  :2thumbs:  I would enjoy reading about them.

Love the trailer photo series. I think the value of the trailer just went up 25%...

Besides the dash, which looks awesome, I'd go with a custom interior as well.  Are you going full hotrod or keep the 50's theme?

It'll be a blast driving that thing and you'll get tons of thumbs up.   :2thumbs:
