I know both sides of the fence there since I was a manager for a papa johns back in high school. Us people in the store never got tips and we made the stupid pizzas. yet for driving them to their place they deserve a tip? after all the hard work is already done. I dont think so. store employees never got paid more than maybe 50 cents more an hour than drivers, and thats if they had been there awhile.

and when a place charges for delivery. thats bogus. I'm not even going to tell you how much it costs most places to make a large pepperoni pizza. lets just say that it's padded enough to cover a delivery fee. If you feel you dont make enough money doing deliverys, then get a job in the store and do some actual hard work. try to get on as a shift manager or something. Or the novel idea. get a different job! damnedest idea isnt it?

Why, they going to track you down and have you sleep with the fish?

I pick up my order most times as I am close to the major chains and a few mom & pop places. My local favorite is Joes who uses the best cheese and just the right amount of sauce..man I can shred my underware after a helping of that fart bomb they call pizza. :icon_smile_approve:

My advise on your deliver job is to start looking for a different one.

these days they have us help out in the store when we aren't delivering, I often find myself having to answer the phones since it seems like I'm the only driver that even knows how to.

I'm just gonna hang on until I save up enough to move to N.C. and go to NTI.
when racing deals fall apart.....you go home, like me.

and you should have to as well. I made my drivers do it too. They get paid decent, and if they arent on a delivery I'm not just gonna GIVE them their hourly wage. they're gonna have to do some work for it. Where i'm from if your not doing anything and expect to STAND around and do not a damn thing then I'm gonna go ahead and say go ahead and try it on my watch. you'll be told to go home or I'd just can ya right then and there. thats the problem with todays youth, none of them want to work for their money. I'm sure as hell not gonna give money away.

Yea but I dont see the in store employees running their cars down the road either, not to mention the liability at stake. I wonder if the drivers personal insurance company will pay knowing the car is being used for commercial purposes. Most of the time you cant put a price on the wear and tear of a vehicle either.  :'(

Thats a risk of the job. Nobody FORCES them to be a driver. they probably need help in the store too. Thats a personal choice to use your own vehicle and insurance to do it. The in store employees choose not to put the wear and tear on their vehicles and such. IMO its not worth being a driver just because of the wear and tear. and because of that I wasnt a driver!
