custom stripe

I am restoring a numbers matching 69 B3 blue SE charger pretty much back to stock and really want to put the bumble bee stripe on it.  I am thinking to do a custom stripe. My thought right now is to do an S/E stripe replacing the R/T (make "those guys" think about it for a minute...lol) and doing it in either white or pearl white.  It will have a black vinyl top.

I don't want to pretend its a real r/t... I am proud enough with the 383 SE and rarer color and other options that are on it.

I just really like the look and 3 color combo...

Any feedback is appreciated...also, would you do a decal or paint it on?

The only other non stock change I am planning are wider tires on  chrome magnum 500's

Thanks for any feedback

I would paint it and do the SE in it, I think it would look good.

Welcome and I second that SE stripe would look geat. You said in your last post back to stock arigianal but with a little flare will set it off from the rest :icon_smile_big:

Another option is to use a '70 stripe. Very similar to the '69 stripe and has no callout in it. Repro stripe decals are readily available, and if you change your mind down the road you can always peel it off.  :Twocents:

That's what I'll likely end up doing, install a 70 stripe.  The current stripe has the R/T callouts and although it's a clone I don't want it on there.  Unfortunately if I remove this stripe it's going to pull up some bubbly paint as well.

Thanks everyone for your input so far...please keep the opinions coming...

As far as the 70 stripe goes, doesn't it go straight across the trunk as opposed to the 69 having a bend on the trunk?

Nope, it has a bend just like the other 2nd gen stripes.  :2thumbs:
I'm sure a company like Phoenix Graphics can make it in any color you wanted, too.

Thanks for the feedback on the 70 stripe and the name of a vendor

I vote for the 70 stripe.

Be different and don't have a stripe. If you do go with it, use a decal so it can be removed.

70 stripe is 1 cm wider and will look wrong where it covers the side reflectors.

Unless you get a vinyl shop to custom make you one and just go with a 70 "style" one instead.  ;)

This was a custom pearl stripe painted on.

The '68 has the better stripes; put that one on instead and drive everyone nuts...

Dino

I agree, the 68 has the best stripe by far.  Hell I may leave mine off completely one day and get rid of the vinyl top.

I just might have to look into the '68 stripe...

I just have to figure out how to make it work with the '69 reflectors... :scratchchin:

Be different and do the new Scat Pack type stripe  http://www.drivingsports.com/2015-dodge-challenger-rt-scat-pack/

Well that would certainly take care of the reflector issue lol...

Ghoste

I don't care for it myself, it looks unfinished.

don duick

how good does the 69 bee look when compared to new challenger.
