I'm going to be so sore...

After a roughly 17 year break from weightlifting I'm at it again.  I will be graduating as an exercise science major next year and figured I should get my butt back in shape.   :yesnod:

I took it easy and used all the things I have learned, and am still learning, but nonetheless it's gonna sting.   :icon_smile_big:

I better up the food intake a bit as well but I'm not going nuts with this either or it's just going to accumulate as fat.

So, any lifters here?

Been lifting for years.  This year has been a major PITA because I got tendonitis in both arms in early summer.   Been going to therapy the last four weeks because I can't take it anymore.  I should have done this in June!   Anyways, just easing back into it this week.  I'm also doing something I never thought I would and could - training for a marathon.   We'll see if the knees hold up doing this... LOL.

First time you bench press, you'll feel like you have the biggest cha cha's.   Don't run up and down any stairs....  :smilielol: :smilielol:

I love a good workout, I have been doing it for years but this video is hilarious.

There are few problems in life that cannot be solved with C-4.

I only saw a short bit of the video, sometimes they just don't seem to work well here.  I have satelite internet which works real nice but some videos just are a pain to load.  I'll check it while in school tomorrow.

And no worries, I'm not running anywhere.   :icon_smile_big:

I have to go to pulmonary in two weeks, something's not right with my lungs as they are limiting performance which should not happen.  I can get short of breath even lifting so I need to be careful.

I used to eat big and lift big but that's literally half a lifetime ago so I'm just going slow.  At least I thought I was.  I may have gone overboard with the eccentric part because I'm already getting sore and I usually am a 48 hours after doms guy.  This is gonna suck.

I hope your tendonitis gets resolved soon, it's not easy not using your arms but rest is key with these things.

Wow.  Yeah.  You'll be sore with that gap.  I've been running and lifting since 98.  Kinda got hooked lifting in college as a credit class.  Always ran.  Ran a 1/2 marathon last year. I was the first runner to cross the finish line wearing pants!  Why did I listen to my sister?? ::)

Oh John.... It's kinda cold.   I think we should wear running pants.
Really?   Okay.  :brickwall:

Use to run over 30 miles a week and lift 6 days a week.  Did that for about 2 years.  Then had heart issues doctors couldn't figure out. Going into afib.

I figured it out.  It was from being married to a nut.  Got out of that and things are better than ever

For lifting and running.  This year having a hard time fitting in (moved to new girlfriends, 2 jobs and putting roofs on a couple sheds at a cabin.

Well... That's my short answer.  :)

It's been about 22 hours after the first workout and soreness is present but nothing major, tomorrow will be worse.  The right shoulder is barking at me a bit, I've always had issues with it after a bike accident.  I plan on going back tomorrow when I'm the sorest to do light lifting, it'll promote blood flow to get rid of the waste products faster.  Going down 5 flights of stairs a little while ago was...interesting.

It's though to stick with these routines when you get busy, the big mistake I made was not to return to the gym in a timely fashion.  Then again, what's 17 years.   :icon_smile_big:

I always do .5 mile on the treadmill before and after the lifting....rarely sore.  Elevating the heart rate aids the elimination process.

Dino

I went back to the gym today.  I also do a treadmill walk first.  5 degree incline at 3 mph for about 10 minutes.  I was not as sore today a I thought I would be.  Yesterday was worse.  After the walk I did a full body routine with weights light enough so I could complete the set without much if any difficulty.  My biceps are the worst, they got pretty sore, although I didn't do any isolation exercises.  It was real hard to straighten my elbows, still is but getting better.   :icon_smile_big:

I'll just build it up slowly before I start adding weight and I'll make sure to drink lots of water and keep eating healthy.  It may take a while but I'll get back in shape.   :yesnod:

I'm 5' 11" and around 190 lbs so I have a ways to go.

Tell you what, it sure feels good to be back in the gym    :2thumbs:
