just how rare /desirable is a 74 ralye with 400 4 speed white with red stripe red  roof and white interior ?  any ideas about value

JB400

I would say that it has low production numbers, but I'd consider it just as desirable as the rest of the 73/4 Chargers.  If you was into that year of car in particular, it would be the one to get.

Has anyone reproduced the side stripes on these cars yet that would meet factory standards?

1974dodgecharger

I say anything with a 4 speed is rare.....love driving them.

1carcrazyguy

Love the combo!  Also spy a Mr Norms decal!!!  That could explain the car.

sdweatherman

Big block 4-speed, V21 hood treatment, side stripe, and a possible Mr. Norms car - You got a keeper there! Great score - for a 74 model, they don't get much better than that one. Value is tough to pin down - not enough of these rarer 74's being bought and sold to come up with a good number. But I would definitely say you have one of the more desirable 74's on the planet. The discussion on how "desirable" one is could go on for days.

I think it's cool. However, to many the HP is limited, the cars are heavy, and suspension is mushy compared to the "most" desired Charger. The market prices on these cars has not yet arrived, so they potentially can be decent buys.

I called him he has had the car 2 years and got out of Pittsburgh not far from were I work he has all the history on the car he will take 9.500.00

I'll jump in. The V6R option is the red "Gradated" stripe.  It is pretty faded but you can see it on the one side.
V21 is the hood paint "treatment". and it's a September 25 build.
But here is the puzzling part.  They never had a red vinyl roof as far as I knew.  So I just checked the data book(s) which confirms black, white, green, gold, parchment.
And to make things even more confusing (at least to me) it shows EW1 as body color (fine) and EW1 eggshell white top. Which to me would indicate that it came from the factory with no vinyl roof.
Otherwise that would say something like V6* or V1* (*whatever the color) I believe.
What will make that "rare" is the 400 HP 4 speed. Otherwise it is just another rally 74 IMHO.

The guy wants too much for it for the condition, but it's a cool car.  As it sits it seems like a $5k car to me.

This car has been for sale once before on forBbodies about.. hmm... 2 years ago.  It was posted on that site as a 10k starting price as well.

Big block 4 speed rallye car.
not a fan of the counsol, but I'd say it's at least a 7.5K - 8.5K

I posted this car on the "looking for DREAM CAR" thread... guess he was stuck on the 2nd gens

In current condition I don't think it should go for more than 4 to 5 thousand. Looks like it needs a full restoration. The cost of restoring will exceed the value of the car when you are done unless you do all the work yourself. Even then you will end up doing it for the love of the car not for the value. Unless your time is worth 2 dollars an hour.

Original roof is just the canopy section.. The rest of moldings up to rear filler deck, is owner added. Not original moldings

Good eye Nacho!

billssuperbird

He told me the dealer installed the roof not the factory.

ODZKing

I would agree it is WAY to rusty to be more than a $4 or even a $5 thousand dollar car.
And as I said which Bill confirmed, that car came from the factory with white painted roof.

he didn't mention whether he had any dealer paper work to back up claims did he ?

so 4-5 k   :scratchchin:   going from the cars in benfro89 's thread which had estimates of 4-5 k and sold for 10k+  maybe its worth what he's asking  :yesnod:

IMO... if it was an SE and/or auto then I'd say 4/5 K.

Tough to peg values against comparables on the Gen 3 Cars currently,
but IMO,
THAT particular Gen 3 Charger is a definately rising commodity price-wise. Just me I guess, but I don't think $7-8K is out of line.
