I like this car - everything except the Charger script on the front fenders  :Twocents:

Compare the red convert and the purple one.  Notice anything different?

Look at the A-pillars/windshield/vent windows.

The red car is like a regular B-body convert.  Taller windshield.
The purple car still has the 2dr hardtop stuff which is visibly lower.  It suits the Charger's lines so much better.

A383Wing

which is probably why the top looks a little odd on the purple car when it's up.

and the red Charger started life as a real 69 R/T....I understand why he put the "Charger" emblems on the fenders, because with the sail panels gone, nowhere does it say Charger on the side

Ghoste

Call me a hater all you like but I won't pretend to like something I don't.  It's okay for you to like it and its okay for me not to.  ;)

Wonder what holds the back of top on :scratchchin: :shruggy: LEON.

Some poor fellow is wondering what became of his stolen boat top!

Nice job on the car not so much on the convertible top. I agree with the others that the convertible would have been better served with a hard top over the rag top. Still one clean looking car!

If the purple convert Charger is the same car I'm thinking of it was a Jersey car for quite a while. I know the guy that used to own it if it's the same car. Purple/white, with a removable "fixed" soft top. Most likely the same car, I can't image there are two purple/white ones with removable soft tops like that.
He had quite a few "weird" ones. Never really drove them or took them out all that much.

surely someone with fiberglassing skills could make a removable hardtop that looks like the real deal

then you'd have your choice of hardtop or roadster  ,didn't they call them a carson top back in the day

After reading the description...

Could one not just have a new carson top made with a spare roof skin?  I mean, sure it may cost another 1-2K; but it would be what you wanted out of it.   :scratchchin:

Good idea, but I think any hardtop would be weight prohibitive on such a big car.... :scratchchin:

Even though this one isn't aesthetically appealing for most of us, its foldable and probably light enough to handle (like a heavy tent I would assume).  It could even be stored in the trunk if the length works out.

That's why I still like the factory folding soft top idea...even though the windshield rake is a few degrees changed.

I like the entire car..I would drive the hell out of it

haters can post up their car so we can pick it apart

Just having a little fun with the top.     :yesnod:

I think we all agree that it's a nice machine overall, and appreciate the amount of work that went into the car.

Purple Charger convert with white interior?  Are you kinding me....talk about a head turner everywhere you go.    :2thumbs:

Similar.

workworkwork

I would love to have the purple Charger. If anyone want's to give that one to me I would be happy to drive it everyday.

indreams84

If it were me, I would fully dedicate the purple convert and lose the top.....maybe place a waterproof car cover in the trunk just in case. It's not like the future owner (or us) would take the car out on a crappy day- at least I wouldn't.

I like em with the top down.  But they look pretty bad with them up.

workworkwork

Seems to be a beautiful car. If you baught it and didn't like the roof you could do anything you want with it. You could even put the original type white vinyl top roof back on it. But I would just drive it like it was. My guess is that in the rain a lot of water would be coming into that car with the roof up. Can't imagine it sealing well.

Seems high but maybe he'll get it.  At the end of the day I hope buyer and seller are happy.

To each his own, but I think the B-body hardtop roof line on 68-70 cars is one of the best features. Take it away and replace it with something that does not mimic it, and the car is less attractive. The only attraction of a convertible is that it is different and unusual.
