Ohio has REALLY lax laws about old cars but this is clearly illegal.  What a dumbass.

Ohio's laws are not that lax, I assure you. This guy is begging for trouble with that ad. Wow.

And yet I'll wager he has little trouble selling them.

To what end?  Help me out with the mechanics on this.

So, I buy a title for a forty year old car.   I fake a bill of sale.  Get it into my name.
Now what?  I remove the vin off a no-title car I already have and claim it is the one that matches the title?
I report the car on the title stolen .......
I frame it and give it as a Christmas gift?
Is this any different from collecting old plates?
If I don't transfer it, is there anything here that is illegal?

John_Kunkel

Lots of people collect titles, just like stamps or coins.

It's not illegal until somebody tries to "rebody" a car using a legit title.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Someone cite a statute that selling a title is illegal  :shruggy:

I doubt that it is. No more than buying rolling papers at 7-11. What the purchaser does with these may or may not be illegal.

Didn't seen him this year but there was a guy at the Auto Fair in Charlotte that had a vending booth just selling vin plates and titles. :shruggy:
