Price, Condition and Options Question

Hi,

I am wondering if it would be possible to find a solid daily driver mopar with no mechanical or electrical issues with no bondo filled areas, no rusted or rotted out areas and only some surface or undercarriage surface rust with some holes, dents, chips or scratches but no major cosmetic issues and does not have to be a numbers matching vehicle but that is close to stock with no aftermarket parts and accessories and only OEM, OER and or NOS parts and accessories for $5,000 to $7,500. I know you can find some of the less sought after mopars for around this price such as a dart, duster, monaco, fury and etc. But could I get a first generation or third generation dodge charger for these prices and in that condition?

I am guessing I couldn't but since I probably wont be able to afford a 1969 dodge charger which is what I really want anytime soon then I am going to be looking at cheaper mopars yet just as good of a vehicle as a 1969 dodge charger and other more sought after mopars. So if anyone knows what type of mopar I could get for those prices and if it would be in that condition I mentioned above then please let me know. The motor does not really matter but it must be at least a 318. However I would prefer a 383 or bigger if possible for my price range. It would have to be a 727 torqueflite automatic transmission console shift and have power steering and power brakes and a sure grip limited slip differential if possible.

But the exterior or interior colors and other options and features don't matter to much. Though I would prefer black on black colors with very few options and features apart from power steering and power brakes and a sure grip. But I would take any color if I had to. Anyways just let me know if I could get a first generation or third generation dodge charger for that price range and in that condition and if not what type of mopar I could get with that price range and in that condition with at least a 318 or bigger and the 727 torqueflite automatic transmission console shift with power steering and power brakes and a sure grip with as few options and features as possible.

Thank you and Peace.

Just type in 1957-1976 Dodge / Plymouth in ebay and you'll get an idea of whats out there at that price.

Or do Craigslist searches in nearby cities the same way.     :Twocents:

I live in southwest VA so that isn't going to happen as I cannot afford shipping for a car only in person delivery. Plus I prefer in person delivery to be on the safe side for everyone involved and to avoid scams or being ripped off and so I can test drive the car before I buy it. And no one is going to travel that distance to bring me a car even if I had the money on me right now. So it must be in the state of VA or a neighboring state and not way out on the west coast or the mid west or way up north or way down south.

But thanks for the post anyways. But hey if they want to drive that far of a distance to deliver it in person then by all means they can. I just cant afford to buy a car for $5,000 to $7,500 and pay for shipping too. So as close to southwest VA as I can find. Anyways I will worry about it once I have the money. I Still have to sell my car to get it. So it might be a few months. But hopefully I will have the money by early December and can get a mopar for my budget and condition with what few options I want before winter sets in but will have to wait and see. Just wish me luck guys.

Thank you and Peace.

Your interest in mopars is clear and your preference for 69 chargers is understandable.

Will you accept a stepping stone to what really want?   If that's the case than I see a long hard road.  Selling/trading what one has to get where we want to be is tough.  One does not generally gain trading value in this market.  It's more like hanging in there.

You stated you need to sell something now to even make the next step. Just making that next step would put you one step back because you will then have to sell/trade to do it again.

My advice is to understand what will make you happy in the long run and not waste your money on something that is not really your passion.

History shows that the good deals happen rarely and those that grab them have money at the time.

I recommend you sell the car you intend to sell for this adventure and add all the cash you can to a pot than hunt for what you really want.

I missed many great deals over the years because I could not act immediately. :Twocents:

An assumption I'm making here is that the car you are looking for will not be your daily transport. If that's true you than your optimism is realistic.

knightprowl

Thanks for the advice. But yes I am wanting a daily driver so yes I would be driving it all the time except for bad weather and wintertime. And I love all mopars. Even the ones that aren't that great looking or sought after much. They are my favorite type of vehicle and muscle car. Sure I prefer the more expensive ones such as a 1969 dodge charger. But I will take any mopar right now that I can get for my budget and in the condition I want with the few options I want. So for me it does not really matter right now which mopar it is. Just as long as it is in the condition I want and within my budget with what few options I want.

So I am not really worried about the time it takes for me to get the money for what I really want. I just want to own a mopar. It has been my dream since I was a kid. So what mopar it is don't matter to me. Just as long as its in the condition I want with the few options I want and within my budget. Now that I have explained it better you will understand that I am not very picky on this matter. As long as its in the condition I want and has the few options I want and is within my budget I will take any mopar that comes my way. As they say mopar or no car. And I live by it. Even the less sought after not best looking mopars are enough for me. Anyways I have repeated myself enough for one post. I think you get what I mean now.

Thank you and Peace.

knightprowl

Yes I do. And if buying any mopar to satisfy myself until I can someday afford my true goal which is a 1969 dodge charger then yes it is worth the wait and worth settling with any mopar. I have nothing to loose and everything to gain. I am going to be buying a mopar!!! My dream car to have fun in. Cruise around in. Open up on the highways. Do the occasional burn out, peel out and donut.

But mainly just to make a life long dream of mine come true. Sure it might not be what I truly want in a mopar. But so what? Its a mopar!!! Who wouldn't take one if they are a true mopar muscle car fan? They are only going to get more rare and more expensive over the years whether they are sought after mopars or not. So yes just as long as it is in the condition I want and with the few options I want and within my budget then I will take any mopar right now. So wish me luck in my search.

Thank you and Peace.

There is no need to be rude. I know I made some mistakes in the past but I am no longer doing that. And you would know this if you had read any of my posts since my return. And I know I must prove to everyone I am not the same person who deleted his posts and was an asshole for no reason all the time.

And I know some of you are still upset over my behavior in the past and I don't blame you. I would be upset as well. But I am doing my best here to try and make up for all my past aggressions towards this community. But you do not need to be this way anymore. I did not come here to fight with you again or cause any trouble.

So I am asking you nicely to not be this way towards me anymore. It is not worth it. And I am here to prove I am changing my ways. All I ask is that you please refrain from this type of behavior towards me. But if you must continue to treat me this way then so be it.

I deserve it for all the trouble I have caused here and around the internet in the past. But I am not going to fight with any of you about it anymore. I am just going to continue being myself. So if you do not like it then please keep it to yourself. As there is no reason for this behavior towards me anymore.

But I cannot stop you from continuing to do so. All I can do is ask you as nice as I can to refrain from doing so however what you do and say on this website or around the internet is beyond my control. I am just trying to get along with everyone and fit into this community without any problems. Anyways I have explained myself enough. Do as you wish. I can only hope that you will stop being rude towards me but that is up to you.

Thank you and Peace.

so you want us to apologize for you being RUDE to us..yeah that makes sense...

And no my PRICE IS FIRM on my 68 charger so I don't have to respond to your PM!

5k......

knightprowl

I don't have the money right now. I still have to sell my car to get it. Plus I only made this topic to see what to expect for my budget. But thanks for the offer. Once I get the money I will make a topic here. If he still has it for sale and can lower his price down a bit then I might buy it.

But that's if I get the money anytime soon. However I am probably just going to try and trade my car for another one locally and worry about a mopar later on after I save up some money. That way I can have more options open to me with more money. But thanks for the offer none the less. I will let you know once I get the money if I don't trade locally.

And if he still has it and would lower his price to say $5,000 then I might. But it has to have the options I want. Which is a 318 or bigger, torqueflite automatic transmission, power steering and power brakes. But that's if it does and if he would take only $5,000 for it and if I get the money anytime soon. But I will let you know none the less.

Thank you and Peace.

This is painful to read- I thought this guy was some sort of expert on the Lee1- didn't he post several times about documenting what was accurate in the Lee1 video thread ??

knightprowl

I am no expert by any means. I know a lot about LEE 1 yes. But I am still learning about it from Jim Shine and others as I go along. But yes I am the LEE 1 go to guy so to speak. Anyways I am not worried about LEE 1 right now. I got more important problems to deal with. Finishing my LEE 1 list can wait. But thanks for the observation.

Thank you and Peace.
