whats everyones opinion on the different ign. out there?mainly for street car applications.I've seen MSD,factory and then the MP recurved systems.I also found this FBO system that looks like a factory one but is said to be alot better.I am trying to decide on what i want to run in my 72 when i get the 383 put in. I was looking at getting the recurved Mopar distrubter and then a orange box,but then i thought an msd would be cool.
After lookn at the FBO site they claim the advance wieghts and mechanism needs work on the MP Dist. so i don't know if iwant to go that way now.right now all i have is the original point dist. for the 383.as my car is originally a smallblock with electronic,I thought i would just utilze the stock wiring.I don't want to buy something and it not work right without having to modifying it even more.
So what is your guys take on whats out there?

MSD with an MP distributor has allways worked well for me. The MP electronic conversion kit has been descent in the past but the included orange box ecu's have been unreliable lately. If you go this way you'll probably upgrade to the chrome box in the future when the orange box frags itself.

I sent my dist.to FBO and they tailored the curve to "MY"needs, gear ratio, cam, carb, etc. They even"Phaze" the reluctor so you're terminals and the rotor are dead on.If you buy the new mopar dist,DO NOT install it in you,re street car as it is set up wrong. The advance is way too fast for a street setup.Send it to them and they can taylor it to" You,re" needs,or if you have a good shop around that understands,Mopars, bring it to them. The new mopar dist is a quality piece at a great price,it just needs a little tweaking.I,m ordering the coil and control box from FBO,as i have the orange box and an msd blaster2 on now. They claim that theirs is much better and its got a great warranty to boot.Give them a call, they will actually, talk to ya,instead of a machine.By the way if any Canadians out there like me,need the info, contact,"Dave" at  www.davesmopar.com  he's the FBO dealer for Canada, and for you,s good folks, south of our border,go to www.4secondsflat.com After reading what they had to say on ignition systems,it was a no brainer. All the best to ya.Glen. :yesnod:
