Hello All,

I realize it's not a charger but wanted to post here to see if the experts have some insight into what it is worth. (I just joined a coronet forum but am waiting on access) I obviously prefer the Charger but it's getting hard to find them at a reasonable price, if you have one or know of one for sale let me know. I prefer 69 but also like 68, prefer an RT, 4 speed, would like something that doesn't need too much work and is ready to drive. 30K is about the most I want to spend.

The ad info and pics for the Coronet are below. These are the factors that might affect the value: NOM, is 440 6 pack which was not an option on the 69 RT coronet, Lemon Twist Yellow was not an available color in 69, non original wheels.

This is a thread of someone searching for a 68/69 charger with little or no work to be done and to enjoy and wants to only spend 30k.  The car he responded to in his email below is a quality 68 charger se 383 AT non ac red ext, white interior, black vinyl top all matching numbers as well with a certified appraisal and purchase price was 35k.  What a waste of everyones time!!

Hey Ray,

I am going to have to pass for now. I cannot get myself to commit to a 35K purchase for something that will just be going into storage for the winter. If you still have it in the spring I may revisit the possibility.

The car looks and sounds awesome! Thanks for sending the pics and videos.

Hey Justin,

Think what you want but I agreed to look at Rays Charger because I wanted to see it after you suggested it, I never promised I would purchase. If it was closer, I would have gone and looked at it in a second. It does look pretty nice, just not sure if 35K is the appropriate # and I didn't want to "waste" anyone's time asking WIW or "low balling" Ray but since you called me out I will provide the pics I was given (heck, maybe someone here will be interested.) I was surprised at the Hagerty Valuation of #2 car $31,300 and #1 (which I highly doubt this one is) of $41,900. You and Ray made it clear that 35K was the price which is one of the reasons I had to bail, maybe for 30K I would have been in.

From the pictures I only saw a couple things that bothered me for a 35K car: the interior seemed a little dirty/worn and the rear valance corners seemed off, the gaps between the corners and the valance seemed mudded over...? Again, I thought it was a pretty darn nice car but was not willing to commit to driving to VA to see it knowing there was no wiggle room on the price.

Lol, so Hagerty is the authority on actual car values?  Or insurance values?  Lets be clear on that.  Those are estimates.

You never stated that in your communications to Ray, you were also told the price of 35k and he would not budge, before any pictures were sent!  I also stated from that point if you are still interested at that time I will give you his contact info.  You agreed to that and I relayed it.  So you wasted this mans time out of his day to send pictures and also to have his friend send you a video.  I really do not care whether he sells the car or not.  I am sick and tired of people wasting other peoples valuable time.

Well, does the certified appraisal refrence those issues?  No.  I have the same pics as well and those issues do not present to me.  What pisses me off is you stated above the car is too nice to buy now and to store for the winter, then you will revisit it in the spring?  What difference does that make?  What you think time will pass and he has to sell it for less?  He is not financially stricken.  Same old thing everyone wants a nice charger but they cannot afford it.

E86/A47

You are the one that wasted Rays time by PM'ing me in an effort to help him sell. Because I asked for pictures, does that mean I have to be interested. NO. My reasons are my reasons and it's none of your business why I don't want to buy your friends car.

QuoteWhat pisses me off is you stated above the car is too nice to buy now and to store for the winter

I never said the car was too nice to buy now and store for the winter. Below is exactly what I said:

Now you are wasting my time so let's call it even. (and how long does it take to send some pics anyways and a couple emails, what is the harm if he actually wants to sell the car which it seems like he has been trying to do for over a year based on info at the videos.) Good luck selling it Ray, I hope you get what you want out of it!

Challenger340

just my opinion... but THAT looks to be a VERY Fairly Priced example for what is available in the current market.... an EXTREMELY Nice Charger !!

It would not surprise me if the price gets "seasonally adjusted" by next spring... if it is still around ?

Better that I say no more.

True, Ray told him do not bother me next year unless you have 40K

Not true. Here is his exact quote:
QuoteNo problem.. Next year price goes up...or I might keep it.

The car may very well be worth every penny of 35K but I decided to pass for numerous reasons. My prerogative.

I don't care who did what to whom, but to be a seller (or his friend as it seems the case is here) and whine about supplying pics to "picture collectors who waste my time" is a LAME argument. GTFU! You are a seller for crying out loud.  :slap:

Oh, and the extra lame excuse of, only ask me for pics if your interested in buying the car! Really? WTF do you think I am gonna say? Lets see here.. I'm in the market, maybe it's a good car that I want to buy, maybe not? but I can't tell because I can't see it!!!!!   :shortbus:

If your bud can't deal with the basics of advertising his car or is too lazy to do so then he should probably just stick to local newspaper sales.   :Twocents:

Baker, since your limited on your knowledge of this.  His original post stated max to spend is 30k.  I knew his car was 35k and will not budge on price period.  So I wanted him to determine if that price was acceptable to move farther.  Anyone, except yourself would do that.  It was not a pawn for images by far.  So you can take your short bus and GTFU comment and place it where the sun does not shine.

Who cares what E86/A47 said and what price the seller wants, I don't, and it doesn't matter so my limited knowledge of your tiff with him is irrelevant. Point of fact, you/your bud are trying to sell a car so man up and quit whining about wasting your/your bud's time having to send pics to prospective buyers. It's that simple, period.

If you do not care than why did you respond in the first place? My replies on here are facts and professional.  Again, what's with your ignorant comments, "man up, short bus icon, GTFU, whining."  Do you really believe those upset me or disturb my day in a negative way. No.  However, if that makes you feel better, so be it.

I have asked for this thread to be deleted but do want to comment once more in relation to this quote
QuoteMy replies on here are facts and professional.

You made several comments that were not facts and you reviving this thread just to point out that you were mad that I wasted peoples time (in your opinion) was unprofessional. I am in sales and when a customer tells me they are not interested I don't get angry with them and tell them they've wasted my time. The fact is that none of this took much time out of anyone's life (except for time wasted typing in this thread thanks to you) and I agree with baker that as a seller, sending pics (especially for someone many states away) is part of the game.

I have a right to speak my opinion and I did, whether you or anyone else here likes that or not.  Wasting time is this thread was your decision to type.

Sorry, but this is a bit confusing without a program....

assume Justin is Moparnation74 ....  But who's Ray?

....and how did we go from talking about the yellow 1969 Coronet to a red 1968 Charger?

Who owns the Coronet?  .... Who owns the Charger?   Is it the same person?

Damn!  All this good drama and I can't tell who's who or who owns what  :eek2:

Selling a car is a major PITA that requires a lot of personal attention. Sometimes you get a bite, then lose the fish. It's that simple.  If the owner wants to part company with his car in a less painful fashion.... Roll the dice and send it to auction.  For a handsome fee they'll deal directly with those "assholes and hassles"  - and nobody gets hurt.

I think that's what Baker was saying.   :Twocents: :Twocents:

Agreed,
Sellers marketing privately, have to be able to weed out the
Lightweight Classic Car Dreamers trying to punch above their Weight Class(money) that are looking for stoopid Owners wasting everyone's time ?

There are a lot of guys out there that think THEIR Money is "special" somehow ?.... and good luck to them !

IMO,
All they end up doing is pushing the market higher and higher, the exact opposite of what they think their lowballs will achieve(if they offer).
just sayĆn,
that's why Auctions are sometimes best, set a fair reserve or at least what YOU think is fair, and let's the Village IDGE-YOTS find out how "special" their money actually is ?
or conversely,
how realistic you "fair" reserve price is ? if in fact you are too high ?
Being a Seller is NEVER easy !!
