To good to be true??

found a 1977 400 bb with a basic rebuild even comes with engine stand says new cam and lifters , timing chain and valve job $375 bucks it has no pulleys or dist. so is this to good of a deal im new to all the mopar stuff so please bare with me on some of my questions. also if I was to buy it what all years 400's can I get parts from to bolt on to it. thanks

It's a low compression cast crank motor so not the most desirable, but if you are on a budget depending on what it is, it could or could not be good deal.
"Basic Rebuild" to me means 30-40 over, new stock pistons and rings, new bearings, new cam and lifters, re-use and refurbish crank and rods, stock valve job and re-use stock valve train. If this is what you have and it as built by a decent shop, $375 is a good deal.

Or did Joe Mechanic clean it up in the living room and toss in new cam, lifters and timing chain? Then maybe not.
