Hello Everyone.

My name is Jeremy. I'm new to this forum but have had chargers in the past. My story goes like This. My First car was a bondo bucket 1970 Charger R/T That I drove (when it would start) to high school back in 1995. I had a lot of dreams for that car but no money. Then came the really bad news. While cleaning out the interior I noticed the VIN rivets were loose, so I ran the numbers turns out a 318 Vin. What? 318? in an R/T Body? I checked the fender tag it had R/T options and non matching vin. My only conclusion was the Title was at some point lost or the Car had been Stolen and another chargers vin put in place of the original. So being depressed I sold the car for $750.00.

In 2000 I bought another 1970 Charger R/T Sublime Green with a lot of options and a Luggage rack (how rare is that)? paid $1500.00 for it.  After pulling the car apart I determined there was just to much rust, I mean even the rear speaker shelf was rusted out. In 2000 There was no AMD to save this car. I sold this car to a guy in St Louis. I've seen pics of a similar car on 1970 charger Registry, I only hope someone pushed through the pain and saved that one.

At This Point Mopar prices Skyrocketed pushing me out of the hobby. Till Now.

Friday August 15 2014 My new project arrived home from Pennsylvania. A 1969 Charger R/T 440 4 speed. This car has already had the quarter panels and the Trunk Replaced. And all Though I Don't Like How The quarters were welded on (lap joint) I am in to much of a hurry to replace them at this point . I have search requests on several forums hunting for the Engine, Trans, and Build sheet. But until those are found or a worthy replacement, I think I'm going for a General Lee replica. But I am leaving all factory trim and marker lights in place so I can restore at a later date.

I just want to build this car To have fun in. When I get in my 50s I probably want the car in its original state.

I know I will get a lot of Hate from people who say the world has enough General Lee's But I look at it another way. Yes some 300-400 Chargers 68-70 were destroyed filming the Dukes Of Hazzard. But how many have been saved? How many charger builders were inspired as kids to have a charger simply because they watched the Dukes. Most if not all of these cars were or could be put back to their original state at some point.

I live in Indianapolis, IN if any forum members would like to get in touch PM me. I'm sure I could use the help.
I look forward To being a part of The Dodgecharger forum family.

Welcome to the forum.  Congrats, on the new ride.  Your car, your decision! Everyone has an opinion as to, "If this was my car I would do......?"  We all get those same questions.  Whether it is a General Lee or a concours correct matching numbers car.  Thanks, for saving another coke bottle!!!!

Hello Cncguy,   welcome to the forum.  You have found the right place to get advice and help in restoring your Charger.  I, myself, have always loved the Dukes of Hazzard but never really wanted to build a General Lee replica. Go ahead, its' only paint and decals anyway. You can always change it back when you are ready.

Bad-luck stories about both previous Chargers so, maybe the third time will be a charm!  Good luck and these guys love pictures so take and post plenty!

Welcome. I'm from southern IN. One thing about the General Lee,if you have removable stickers I think these cars look pretty good in solid orange as well. Look forward to seeing progress.

I'd love to be able to buy a green 70 R/T like that one for $1500 now or even in 2000 :o :o :o Nowadays just the front Bumper with grill in average shape will cost you $1,500. Anyways. Welcome.  LEON.

Welcome Jeremy, I like the luggage rack.

myk

Orange, orange, orange, orange, orange all day.

Even if you decide to build a car that isn't as cool as an orange one, you could pick any other color on the palette and it will still look good-Dodge Chargers look good in any color...

Cncguy

Original color was F5 green hardtop with black stripes. Right now I want a louder color.

Two years ago when my Charger was in for a repaint it was either going to be Plum Crazy, SubLime, some sort of blue or some sort of orange.  If you want loud it's going to be one of those hues...

Cncguy

That's the best thing about 1970 mopars the high impact colors!

myk - but do you constantly get the "Where's the 01?" type of responses?
