I would also check all the bulbs to see if they are all ok...check the sockets and the grounds at the housings. Simple things can cause all kind of screwy occurrences.

I did find the reason for the situation where both sides in the rear would come on with either position of the turn signal switch. But then, all of a sudden, the left dash and forward blinkers don't work whereas they did right after I fixed the rear's problem. But, in order to get direct access to the dash harness, I just took the cluster out. I am going to check the gauges for operation and accuracy with my resistor box setup and clean things up. I would love to get another woodgrain facade, but that's a pretty penny at this stage. I just want everything working properly now.

Troy, looks like you are making great progress.  I am itching to get out and fiddle with the 500.  I am getting stronger every day but I am still about a week away from turning any wrenches.  I have ordered wheel wel moldings and carpet.  I need to go out and make a list of items I know I will need and start ordering.

Operation Black Daytona:
Set up my gauge testing configuration. It includes one bench variable power source, Resistor Decade Box and wire-connects. I can set the different resistance values and observe the response of the individual gauges. I have a reference resistance-to-value chart for each gauge.

Video of my gauge testing setup << click here, hopefully works

I can't speak for Troy but I am very happy.  I have a pile of work to do before the first show are cruize, but I can't wait to get going and show some progress.  The Daytona will be greatly missed.  It certainly turned heads every place it went.

I am as well happy.. The black car will either be a fun resto-mod or turn itself into something else. Either way, it is a win-win for me, a win-win for Allen and a win-win for us..........  :2thumbs:

Sounds like a great trade then!  I hope to see that black daytona around the area before too long.  And good luck Allen with the c500, we look forward to seeing progress.  Also, I hope that your recent health problems subside and you are back at it soon!

Operation Black Daytona:
Well, there were issues with the turn signal switch that was in the car when I got it. So... I put in a "new" one. Well, had it all buttoned up and the dang left front turn-signals wouldn't work; dash indicator and front end. Well, after troubleshooting, found out it was the darn NEW switch... Reproduction junk............ on this particular item....

Video showing the new reproduction switch not working properly << click link

She's all better now...... I put in the NOS switch I had and she works very good now.......  :2thumbs:

Yep. The nos ones are the way to go. I always have a spare one too. The trouble I have usually had with the repop ones is that they don't recenter themselves,so only one brake light works.

I suppose there isn't any way to rework the repro ones so they operate properly?  (not that you should have to)

Yes, the plastic that is used for the switch halves is too flimsy. I could have connected the dark green wire to the light green wire at the dash harness connection since they both are for the left side, but I am not sure of the ramifications of that.. Would have been an easy fix but not sure why only the light green wire went to the emergency flasher switch...

I tried to make an aftermarket turn signal switch work after 3hours of tinkering finally it worked assembled then after 5 signal turns it broke :brickwall: Went with nos part and no problems since.

Operation Black Daytona;
Today I finished up the electrical woes of the new Daytona. The lights, both indicators and brake lights work great.  :2thumbs:

I took advantage of the time the dash cluster was out to spruce it up a little. The Daytona is a true R/T SE and with that comes the woodgrain facade on the dash. The woodgrain on the car looked rather ragged ( scratched, bent and overall bad shape ). I had a pretty decent original dash set for the 69. Now the dash looks a lot better. The woodgrain can be swapped out later. The new kits do cost a pretty penny.... Now I need to find that extra gas pedal dress-up surround.
