That's a pretty good price. 8 3/4 Sure Grip centre sections were going for $400 at Carlisle this year. And that is just a core that need rebuilding. I picked one up with missing teeth in the ring gear for $350 and I thought I got a deal.

Ask what the casting number is on the diff. The 742 are the better/stronger ones. That's what I bought. They also have a wider range of gears available.

Ghoste

Many feel the 489 is the stronger but no matter, you aren't going to hurt either in a street car.

That is a good price.  :2thumbs:

The sure grip unit alone is a small fortune.

The one with "posi" has a cone-type Sure-Grip and 2.76 gears neither of which is all that desirable. If one wanted a 2.76 Sure-Grip, $250 is a decent price but, otherwise, you're buying an empty housing.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.
