Hi everyone i have a brand new master and booster and the cover on the master seeps a little just enough to screw up the paint on it ,and the fluid level is about 1/2' under the top and just the front section. From what i read online appears to be sort of common, dose anyone else have this happen and what did you do to fix it.

Yep, brand new and does the same thing. Don't know if there is a fix.
I just check it often and have a special rag in the trunk in a baggie that I keep to wipe it with.

I would call the place you bought the master from and get a new gasket or could you double up on the gasket?

I had the same thing. I tried a few things and fixed it....

Inspect the gasket... is it ok, smooth and "rubbery" enough to squish when compressed. Make sure that the surface is smooth. If not get a new gasket.

You may---especially if the master cylinder is older--- need to run some 80 grit sand paper along the top of the cylinder to smooth out any roughness or rust.

I sanded the cylider and got a new gasket----it has been bone dry ever since.

Thanks for the info ,but remember the master is brand new in May.  What i have tried is to bend the bail wire to be a little tighter and i also made a piece of thin plastic material that goes around the inside of the cover where the master would fit. My hope is that it will make it tighter and make a better seal to the master. Ill let you know if it worked. But if anyone has any more ideas i would still like to here them.

Mine is new as well.
Let me know if the plastic works, we may have a business here.

OK i have driven the car a few times now to work and cruises and haven't noticed leakage yet ,may have fixed it.

Post some photos Keith, it does it to all of us , good fix if we can see what you did

OK here's some shots of what i did on the underside of the cover i super glued some 1/4" strips around the edge to put more pressure on the area that seals the cover, than put the rubber gasket over that. The pieces of poly i got from a hobby shop used in model building they are not very thick about the thickness of a card board cereal box. I also pushed the bail wire closed a little bit as well so it fit tighter.

Thanks Keith , going to try it myself , very good idea  :2thumbs:

I suppose after this many years the covers may be mashing out ever so slightly and the bail wires are getting weaker?  It just seems like when I was younger you had to flip the bail wire with a screwdriver and I can do it with my thumbs. :shruggy:

I looked at my master cylinder cover and there's no indents (circled), is it leaking there.

That i am not sure of, wondered that my self but it dose not seem to be leaking now at any rate. My guess is that that must be some sort of breather channel.

The ones I checked on-line did not have the indents except for the Ram Man's plated ones. Where did you purchase it?

He may be a good one to ask, he knows his stuff.
