Spacers, long bolts, longer axles?

I've been looking for longer rear wheel studs so I can add a 1/2" spacer (somewhat reluctantly) but all I find that would fit is a Milodon 3" stud that seems to be out of stock everywhere.  IF I find a set then I will have to cut them to fit.

All this makes me feel uneasy but I do have to bring these wheels out a bit so what are my options?

According to this, the axles in my car are 29 3/16".  http://www.moparts.org/Tech/Archive/axle/16.html

Instead of using spacers and long bolts, there are axles that may work length wise such as the 30" c body axles.  Are these a simple swap or is it more involved?  Ie, do I need to swap the entire housing?

personally, I would not use spacers, but that's me.

the axle length is different from spline to bearing, from hub to bearing is the same for all...yer gonna have to swap entire housing from some car that takes a wider one

I was afraid it wouldn't be easy.   :icon_smile_big:

I need to ponder this.

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

What size are your rims? Offset? You having any rubbing issues?

I'm having a few issues with mine, but it's on a '73. I have 15 Vectors on my '69.

I ran across a thread on Moparts and these are what Dr Diff recommends (in stock too):

I didn't think to look at any studs with a knurl diameter greater than .675 but I guess this will work.  What are the odds my little hacksaw can cut a piece off these?   :icon_smile_big:

EDIT:  I though the knurl was .685 but it's .665 so that should be easy to fit.  My bad.

The rears are 17x9. with 5.5 backspacing.  It's hitting the inner wheel well although not always.  Still, moving the wheels out 1/2" would be great.  More may be possible but I don't want to end up hitting the outer wheel well.  The left is worse than right because the left used to hit when I turned into the driveway at work.

Cool, thanks for the answer there, that helps me out some. I too don't really want to use a spacer, but looks like an option I'll have to really look at.

I use a billet 1/2in spacer on the back of mine with a 3in grade 8 wheel stud.....works fine with over 700ftlbs of tq and sticky drag radials at the track  :2thumbs:

These are very similar to the one's i'm using : http://www.summitracing.com/parts/bae-2000010/overview/

Do not use cheap cast aluminum spacers  :slap:
