        Hello knightprowl and welcome to the forum.   My book shows the 4-bbl carb used on an automatic 383 cu.in.  charger with A/C was an AVS model 4638S. Hope this helps.

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone knows the brand of carburetor that was used from the factory for a 1969 dodge charger base model with the 383 four barrel(not the 383 Magnum) and A/C. I know of two kinds that where used. The Carter AVS four barrel and a Holley 600 cfm four barrel. However I do not know which one was used for the base model with a 383 four barrel and A/C. So if anyone knows which one is correct then please let me know.

Holley R4440 PN 2946538 was typical for 330 horse A/C with automatic application but I have seen a Carter 4638 used in the application late in the year (616 car)
Carter 4711 PN 2946598 for a 330 horse manual A/C.

Go with the Holley. I haven't seen the AVS used with a 383-4bbl-Auto-A/C except for the one late built car.

Don't hesitate with the purchase of a Holley or equivalent.

Just a few months ago I sold my 69 charger base model, 383 4 bbl with air. It had a Holley . When I first got the car I thought it couldn't have came factory,but further research proved that , that's how they came with that setup. Go with the Holley.

Why delete? Doing so is selfish and rude. When a member asks a question, the site is open for all to see. Many people that are casual observers may benefit from the topic. When you delete a topic, you are basically saying.."Thanks for helping ME, to heck with what anyone else thinks".

Pure speculation here, but I would guess so now it can be presented or sold as having an "original" motor AND carb.  While not leaving a trail of evidence on the internet.  Too bad you can't delete any parts that were quoted.

The reason I always delete my topics after I have the answers to my questions is because I have no use for it anymore. Sure it may seem selfish to you all but not to me. I never keep a topic or any of my posts on any website or forums after it is not needed. So it has nothing do with anything you have said. I am not trying to hide anything from anyone. I am not trying to scam anyone. I am not trying to protect my intellect or how stupid I may seem for asking a question from anyone or anything else you have said.

I just don't see the point in keeping my topics or posts after I have no use for them. If anything I am just a very weird person that keeps nothing around after he is done with it online as well as in real life. I guess I am kind of the paranoid type as well never keeping any personal information on websites or forums. Its why I have no information on my profile on this site or any website or forums or other social networking websites and forums other then what is required by that specific website or forums and that's all hidden when and where possible. In other words I am just a very weird paranoid anti social person.

That is it. So call me whatever you want and say whatever you want to me or about me but I have said the truth of the matter. So you can believe what I said or not. I don't care either way. What others think of me or say to me or about me is no concern or problem of mine. Everyone has there own opinions and I cannot change them no matter what they are. But now you know my side of the story. And you can quote my messages all you want. I will still delete them even if the quoted messages remain. So please do what you want. It is your choice. I don't care either way. I just wanted everyone to know the reasons behind why I delete my topics or posts.  

I understand your point,but the reason that its selfish is that we are all members of this community sharing info and knowledge about these cars. If this thread would have been left alone another charger guy or gal could have the same question, hit search and fund your thread..that's what the technical part of this forum is about. The compilation of everyone's experience and knowledge .
