Hi
What is this part hanging on the dash assembly?
The picture is up-side-down

Ghoste

john108

Thank you Ghoste.
But, is it for Emergency Flashers or Directionals, or BOTH?

On the following picture, can you please tell me what these 3 parts are?
Item 3 is taped to the harness cable.

A383Wing

1) is dash gauge voltage limiter

2) is a noise suppressor for the limiter

3) is a flasher...not sure which it is for, turn or 4 ways....would need to see the wire end to tell.....there should be 2 flashers on the car, one for turn, one for emergency flashers

Ghoste

Or is it more likely a relay, what kind of car is it?

Thats what I was starting to think too, flashers are round.  But are there that many light leads connected to the timer?  (I guess I could get off my ass and look at the wiring diagram)

hawkeye

If I remember right, there are 3 wires coming out of it.  1 goes to the fuse box (always hot), 1 goes to the key light and the last one is connected to the switches on the doors, so when you open the door, your light comes on.  All that is inside is a little bi metal strip that heats up and moves away from a contact point, breaking the connection.

It is silver isn't it? And taped to some wires?

#1 & #2 look silver to me....#3 looks gold...at least on my screen

Ghoste

Lol, I didn't even look at the second pic yet Bryan, I was still working on the first.

john108

It is a 1968 Charger R/T
It appears that there is some discussion about the part in the first picture and item #3 in the second picture.
Can I "assume" that there is agreement in Items #1 and #2 from the second picture?
I added an additional view if the items plus an additional part #4
I totally disassembled the dash assembly at the present time and the wiring is a maze!

VegasCharger

Well I can answer the #3 object. As Charger-Bodie said it's a key light timer. Below I've attached pics of my harness from a 68 Charger. This is the "Light Package" option wire harness that includes this light/timer. In 1968 the code was 355, I'm sure it's the same for 69 but it has a different code number. Anyway the silver cylinder has three prongs on it that plugs into the harness. The black spot you see is just some over spray from previous owners doing something under the dash. Light Package included: glove box, trunk, ignition w/timer & map light. Hope this helps.

Ghoste

Is picture one the buzzer for the headlights on?  (In 69 the code for light group is A01.)

john108

I have attempted to summarize the comments above and I hope I interpreted everything correctly.
Please correct or expand on these items.
NOTE: Looking at the picture of the harness in the top picture of Reply #12, that harness came out as one complete assembly.  One skinny yellow wire required that I include the harness going to the center console.

1)   Item in Picture 1: Headlights and/or key warning buzzer.
2)   Item #1: Dash gauge voltage limiter.
3)   Item #2: Noise Suppressor for the voltage limiter.
4)   Item #3: Ignition Light Timer.
5)   Item #4: (It is clipped to the Radio) No comment Yet.

think both the turn signal & emergency flashers can interchange / have same connection , but  not sure if they will work , Maybe over heat or flash bulbs too slow or not at all  :-\ ( await to be corrected by someone who knows  :shruggy:  ) , because they are rated in how many bulbs they operate I believe :shruggy:

any way have a look below , whats the two flashers say on them ??

***Emergency flasher relay  has two pink wires in one connector  & one red ***
*** Turn signal flasher relay had one red & one black wire ***

The worst part about all of this, is that I changed the dash harness in my car not two weeks ago and this should be fresh information to me.  :brickwall:

john108

tan top - you are correct, red and black wires.

Nacho-RT74

pretty much covered

1 emergency flasher by the color wires
2 cluster voltage limiter
3 noise supression condenser for the RUN circuit ( Radio, limiter etc.. )
4 time delay flasher ( usually ign key courtesy light, some other cars got another courtesy lights or warning lights controled by this flasher )
5 turning flasher

NOTE: Mopars usually used from factory a squared flasher for emergency lights, which usually identifies a heavy duty unit, for all the bulbs loads

Nacho's summary also seems to be consistent with most comments.  Does everybody concur?

tan top

 :yesnod:

yeah by your numbering

1 =  instrument cluster voltage regulator
2 = cluster noise suppressor , condenser
3 =  ignition light thermo timer relay
4 =  black & red wires - turn signal flasher relay
5 =  two pink & a red wire - emergency flasher relay

Yeap, I didn't made the numbering in your order, like TanTop did, but on the order of pics you posted
