Is the stiffener spot welded in place? Bonded? Stuck there by habit?

I'd like to remove it for cleanup and painting, and it looks like a good whack on a chisel would take it off, but if it's welded, that will just bend it and the firewall.

Were they using adhesives for metal assembly back then?  My bet is spot welded.  :shruggy:

Probably not, but spot welding seems pretty labor intensive for that little thing.

True, I also suppose it depends where it occurred in the assembly process?

Now that I have the paint off it, I can see that it is spot welded. Makes sense, since it had original paint on it. I suppose the clips, nuts, stiffeners and whatever else on the firewall were attached before it was mated to everything else, which would have made things much easier.
