My turn to play whats this connect to

I can't find anything that this connector hooks up to.  I looked under the dash of a buddy's car tonight and he has a pair of connectors going into that I can't seem locate in my harness.  It breaks out close to the wiring for the ignition switch.  My buddy seemed to think it was for interior lighting but I think I have all of that connected?

terrible one

I know the ash tray lamp plugs in there for one. The other I'm thinking is for the light for the A/C controls. They are both orange if I'm not mistaken. It gets juice when the lights are turned on. Pretty sure one is left open (at least that's how it is on my car but it's low optioned.) I'm using the open space for my aftermarket gauge lights.

Dino

That's correct, one is for the ash tray and one for the A/C lights.  The third stays open.  If you don't have A/C or the light package than that plug should be empty.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

I have light package but no ac so now I know what to hunt for, thanks guys.  I'm positive my buddy doesn't have air but he had two plugs in there.  :scratchchin:

There's no light for plain heater controls is there?  Look up the A/C wiring for a 69 and you'll see the plug.  Mine only has the A/C light and ash tray light.  Could the third one be for the tach maybe?

Tach takes a bulb that comes off with other bulbs that plug in apart from the screw in ones (turn signals, high beam indicator, brake warning).

Generally, orange wire is lighting; a 3-socket connector like that is just a convenient place to plug in various lights that are powered by the instrument dimmer.

Keyed accessories often use a similar socket but it's usually a red wire.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

And, it turns out the ashtray lamp is missing in my car so that's why I can't remember what was plugged in there, nothing was.

A/C and heat have optional light bar that sits in front of controls, uses two front mounting screws to attach and controller will have a notch for the wire. It would plug in there if you had one.

According to my shop manual (70 Charger) this is what should be plugged into that connector:

1 E2B-180 Ash receiver lamp
2  E2A-18O Air Conditioner and Heater lamp and socket
3 This is a paired wire in a single male bullet connector E2D-18 O clock light
                                                                            E2E-18O Tach light
