I have a 68 Charger and am in the process of reinstalling the stainless trim.  My question: on the trim on the side passenger windows does the trim require any gasket or adhesive when installing?  My concern is mainly around the curve in the corner in which half the trim is exposed to the outside and there appears to be a small air gap if installed without gasket or adhesive.  I did not remove trim before sending to paint so I am not sure of the reinstall.  Any help would be appreciated.

No gasket, adhesive, filler etc. That is the drain channel that feeds 2 body panel drains at the bottom of the rocker panel. Take a look underneath the body below that drain gap and you'll see the outlet holes.

If you have a VT car the vinyl must be thoroughly glued and wrapped in and behind that gap too.
