With a short 2 mile trip to work I'm thinking of installing a manual choke on my six pack. Any done this? I see a manual choke kit for 2300 series carbs is available but don't know if it adapts to the six pack center carburetor.  :scratchchin:

Ya just did it and it wasn't too bad of a job. I bought the "deluxe" manual choke kit at napa for $12 it had everything I needed to do it. I just had to make a small braket the I welded to my original bimetallic choke frame. I took some pics and I will post later. Oh I also placed the control in the drivers fresh air box so you can't see it.

Here's the pics.

The bracket came with the kit I just adapted it and tack welded it to the stock choke, Then you need to drill out the choke lever so the cable clamp will fit in.

Mounted the control here so its not visible and yet easy to reach.

I will see if I still have the kit part number if ya need.

Scott I'm taking one more stab at adjusting the stock choke. If that is not a happy thing I'll be doing this mod. Will this hold the stepper cam in place to keep idle high or bypass all that stuff? (Like bending the tab in the other topic you replied to me in.)
Thanks!

Ya the stepper and the pull off still work, actually better :2thumbs:

Thanks!  :2thumbs: So your bypassing the thermal spring thing.

Ya I just disconnected it and try wrapped it off to the side so if someone looks under the aircleaner it still looks stock :yesnod:

My car is such a bastard mix mutt I could care less about appearance!  (Even the body is a mess of patches!  )

Okay a seller on eBay made it clear the Holley kit is useless for a "Divorced Choke" like the six pack uses. Now that I'm back in there farting around I see the beauty your simple system mod Scott.  :2thumbs:

Ya I think I got "first time lucky" on it :icon_smile_big: I wanted to keep it hidden and operate the choke like the factory bi-metal was supposed to. If you try it out you will find it to be an easy mod I'm sure and if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask ;)

Just got back from AutoZone with one. Putting it in tomorrow!  :2thumbs:
Thanks, I'm no longer in love with my 57.00 thermal divorced choke thingy, it will be boxed and shelved.
