I think that even the odds makers in Vegas would agree.

During one of Gilles's recent inverviews he said something about the newest Charger redesign being less retro.

We'll never get our modern 2nd-gen.

The new Challenger then will become a 4 door too

And what became of all the talk about the Chrysler Cuda'?  :shruggy:

Hmm, interesting and about time hey stop the badge engineering, that is what killed Plymouth.  So Chrysler will be mainstream and retain a minivan while Dodge becomes all sport and performance models.  Good idea and its too bad because with that line of thinking they could have kept Plymouth as entry level models.

JB400

But, it's the same road that Pontiac took.  That ended up as a dead end :P

Ghoste

True.  Dont know what to say about that.  Saturn is a monster home run isnt it?

Having multiple sales channels wasn't a bad thing.   If you didn't like your Dodge dealer, you could go to the C/P Plymouth dealer for your minivan.   The company doubles its chances of a sale.     The consumer has price competition.   That's something of a mutual benefit.

My local Chrysler dealer that I did parts and service business with closed.   Several other local dealers were closed or merged.   The result is fewer dealers, farther apart.   They wanted to build brand exclusivity thinking people will just follow.   The problem is, some will, but others will just go down the block to other local dealers or brands.

I can certainly agree with that and given how many more Caravans sold over the Town and Country it will be interesting to see what the future holds for a vehicle that was a sales leader for them for so long.  Some product overlap is good but badge engineering doesn't excite me.  Was there a price difference between the Dodge and Plymouth minivan?  The Neons were the same from them no?

I have two friends that work at the mini van plant cause its just 25mins away, If they close that plant like GM closed the trans and trim plant here. Windsor can't take more people in there 50's out of a job here. Guys we know that once worked at GM and fords work at home depo and dallor stores cause there know jobs here. Give it a few years and the van,charger,challenger,f150,rams will be moved to mexico or over seas like the rest to cut cost

Killing the Caravan name seems short sighted.   Sort of like when Ford killed off the Taurus name the first time.   But it may not really matter as Chrysler Dodge and Ram are all in the same showroom now.

JB400

I think where Chrysler will take the biggest hit is with the fleet sales of the Caravans.  Those are what a lot of companies buy.  Not very many will spring for a higher priced T&C

Will those be folded into the Ram line?

Ghoste

Maybe thats where the Caravan should have gone anyway, to the Ram line?

JB400

Well, looking at the Ram website, http://www.ramtrucks.com/en/ram_cv/  they call it the C/V Tradesman.  Same vehicle.  Maybe this vehicle will still continue :scratchchin: but just scratch the Dodge Caravan nameplate?
