On the street the diff will lock and leave two equal length burn out stripes every time. When I was doing the burn outs in the water box at lvms the right tire would spin every time, occasionally they would both spin. I believe it is the cone type diff since the springs are clearly visable.

If its original equipment my guess is that it's just plain worn out.

:iagree: The cone SG units wear out...eventually the cone bottoms out and the unit becomes ineffective. The rebuildable clutch style SG units are the way to go when replacing

I have been burned too many times on a so called "posi". The pumpkin may spin both axles, with the tires off the ground. However, when you add 3500 lbs. on it and hit the gas, it's a different story and I hate that skunk juice.
They do in deed wear out.  New ones from Randy's are what 1500 bucks now ?  Crazy.
