Next was fabbing up the bracket. Basically eye-balled it using the remote filter setup as a guide for clearance.

The bracket is made of 2" x 3" x 3/16" angle and 2" x 2" x 1/8" angle. It's stout, and the oil filter won't be moving. If I ever get into drag racing, this bracket will be the first thing to get removed.  :smilielol:

this is how i did my e brake cable, drilled a hole.

Thank you for the photos cdr. That gives me a good reference as to how I'll run my cable.

Chris 69

Here's the completed painted bracket.

Chris 69

Next was mounting the remote oil filter head to the bracket.

The remote oil filter kit I used is a Hayden 291. Very impressed with the kit. All components are well made.

Next was mounting.

1. Remote oil filter head and bracket.
2. Adapter to the block.

Chris 69

Here it is fully installed. Note that the hoses are cut short enough so they cannot contact the power steering pump belt and fan blades.

1. No more conflict with the lower radiator hose.
2. Easy access to the filter.
3. No more mess when doing an oil change.

Chris 69

Finally, washed and waxed. Time to drive it!! :drive:

That is awesome!  I look forward to hearing how much stiffer the chassis feels and how much better it handles.  :2thumbs:

I installed sub-frame connectors, torque boxes, and the lower radiator support from US Car Tool. Definitely stiffened up the frame of the car. It's noticeable while driving.

As far as handling, it still handles like a late 60's muscle car, but I have Hotchkis front and rear anti-sway bars and torsion bars to install. The Hotchkis parts are larger diameter than the stock parts. Also have new heavy duty rear leaf springs to install. Those parts should help with handling.

Kit was just under $50. Purchased from the local O'Reilly's Auto Parts.

Thanks for all the complements guys. Hopefully this thread gives some ideas for others performing similar upgrades.

yep,
was going to do the remote oil filter Chris just like you have done,
do you think you would have gotten away with using right angle fittings , then the hoses would have been even shorter and then behind the lower radiator hose,
good glad you have posted , was looking for your thread ,
wanted to see what brakes you used on front as well as those rims ,
going for a different look with mine , black rims ,

Regarding the shorter hose runs, I think it could be done with modifications to the bracket I made to give a little more space between the remote filter and the motor. One of the angle fittings would need an extension to be able to screw it on after installation of the first angle fitting in the remote filter head. I have the two pieces installed pretty close to each other right now, so the flex hose runs would be very short. One of my concerns is making the flex hose runs too short, and therefore not being able to fully isolate the vibrations and torquing of the motor from the fixed-in-place remote filter. With my longer hose runs, the remote filter is isolated from the motor.

Front brakes are: MP Brakes Rallye fronts. Front wheels are 15x7 Cragar D-window. Backspacing is 4" I think (if you plan on going with a similar setup, let me know and I'll pull the receipt and verify backspacing). The brakes fit without using spacers on the front.

Your car would look awesome with the black rims.

The biggest bang for your buck when it comes to suspension/chassis 'mods are aftermarket sway bars and shocks.  Hotchkis will tell you this and my own personal experience verifies it.  As soon as I installed the Hotchkis sways and shocks along with my MP frame connectors well....the car was absolutely incredible afterwards...

Thanks chris ,
car looks great by the way , bet those upgrades make it handle a lot better

Chris 69

Finally got around to installing the suspension upgrades including:

- Hotchkis torsion bars, front anti-sway bar, and rear anti-sway bar.
- Mopar performance leaf springs.

Photos to follow....
