Hi Hemi Folks,

392 is the 'Real Hemi' for sure!
True hemi head design, unlike the 426 with canted over ex-valves to fit the later B-bodies.
Exhaust ports with radical curve and severely compromised ex-manifolds!!!

392's were built as a true hemispherical config.
The 417 Donovan by Bob Mullen is a beautiful engine!!! :2thumbs:

426 with later ali heads (Keith Black etc) make them the best for racers!!!

426 because when the word HEMI is said that is the first number that comes to mind
(I have a 5.7 in my truck but I never think of it as the real one)
next project 70 Charger FJ5 green

The last three are Hemis in name only. Only the Elephant and the Whale deserve recognition as Hemis.

I will say 426 sure says HEMI! I had a 426 Wedge in my 69 Charger, when I opened the hood, people looked disappointed.  :shruggy: I never said it was a Hemi, but 426 just says Hemi.

I also had a 426 Maxie Wedge in my 68 Road Runner, again they thought it was a Hemi. Open the hood, more like What The Hell Is That Thing!

I get that too. I have a front plate the reads "426 4-spd".  Its a 63 426 wedge in a 70 Charger.
