I just brought home a 73 Charger yesterday with a 440, and 727 tranny. I have a 8 3/4 rear end to install, and I am picking up a posi for it, but this car has a nice all new 3 inch exhaust front to rear....sounds great! The problem is that is is only about an inch or 2 above the ground, and will not be able to be driven this way. I wonder what I will need to do to make this exhaust work without having to replace it all. Thanks for any help with this!

Are some of the hangars broken, or something?

Has the car been lowered?
Sounds to me like a hack job from local muffler man by the way you describe. WAY too many kits out that fit for this...

Some pictures would help of the Charger, so we can see how it sits. I am guessing it is low in the front?  :shruggy: You can crank up the front bars some to raise the front. All so, does the Charger have headers?

I have a 73 w/440 ,headers, xpipe, 3inch exhaust and a slightly lowered front end. A 2x6  just  fits under the system at its lowest point.  The 3 inch tailpipes fit really tight. With the 3 inch system you have to work at keeping it tucked up tight while building it.

Need pictures.

Thanks for the help. I will try to post up some pics, but I do think She sits low in front and also in back. I may need to raise torsion bars in front, and I think maybe shocks are bad in back. This is my first Big Block car, and this car was originally a small block. The guy who had it before me put the rebuilt 440 in it....looks like He did a good job, and I just need to finish tweaking these things like exhaust, and restore interior, and some exterior trim. Thanks again!
