why do some 440 magnums have dual snorkel air cleaners and some do not?

Depends on the year, also I think the California sold cars had dual snorkel air cleaners in 68 and 68 while the rest of the country had the round  non snorkel ones. By 70 and later the 440s all had duel snorkels.
