Seem's like many of the other people on here are about my age and was just wondering if there are any transformers fans on the forum? After the duke's went off the air I started looking for other means of entertainment which came in the form of robots in disguise, lol. Had a small collection of the G1's and a few of the G2's before I lost interest after I got a little older and got a four wheeler!!

must be a bit older I'm more a herculoids and space ghost  fan then a big gap until the kids started watching eek the cat and the terrible thunder lizards

:2thumbs:  Yes, I have a collection of probably 150+ Transformers, most of them are Gen1s that I got back in the day.  I still have the metal Jazz that I got for my 10th birthday (1983) when they were first released in the USA.  (Stored in a very safe place away from my home, I have some of the Gen1s still in the boxes, never opened or played with.  I put them away to keep them perfect.)  The Megatron pistol is one that I never seemed to get my hands on for myself, but two of my friends have him.  I saved up the points on the boxes everytime I bought them and sent in the order form for 10 Megatrons, but they ran out and substituted others in their place.  It ended up being a better deal overall.  I did get my hands on Reflector, the 3 in 1 camara, which was never for sale in a store and was a mail in premium.  I have two Gen1 Optimus Primes and one Gen1 Headmasters Optimus Prime, as well as Gen1 Starscream, Soundwave, Shockwave, Devastator (Constructacons) and many more.....

Yes, I was a nerd even back then. :slap: ...

ws23rt, the transformers movie toys that have been out since 2007 wasn't the transformers toys or series I was pertaining to. The original transformers were a toy line based from a cartoon that started in 1983 and ran as a cartoon series for several years and was had a giant toy line and following that the new movies were based on. I have some of the transformers from the last few movies but the original toys that are referred to as G1 (generation one)from the early 80's are crazy expensive now and almost impossible to attain unless you are rolling in cash!!

Remember when you could buy these for $20-30 off the shelf all day long at any toy department (man, even I feel old now):

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1984-G1-PEPSI-Optimus-Prime-In-Box-Very-Rare-Beautiful-Condition-Amazing-AFA-/261419528943?pt=US_Action_Figures&hash=item3cddd172ef

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Jetfire-Transformers-G1-MISB-and-AFA-Ready-/301095544551?pt=US_Action_Figures&hash=item461ab166e7

BTW: I did find a Pepsi Optimus Prime on the shelf at a local back then (1984), so not all of them were given only to Pepsi employees as the ebay ad states....

I had several original G1's in the mid to late 80's but they were all just in fair shape and played with condition more less. I had a megatron but it had no box and a piece was broke off but it wasn't noticeable at all. I sold them to a collector back in the early 2000's to put money into my charger. After I sold them I began to regret getting rid of them so I picked up a few here and there to kinda re-gain my small collection. I got a super nice jetfire and a still working and in the box omega supreme and a nice loose original optimus prime and a still working original shockwave. Most of the collection is made up of the re-issues that were cheaper to come up with. The re-issues are not expensive as an original but most of the originals I had were in poor condition so having the new re-issues is better for me than having the one's I had that were worn out and missing parts. Yeah, The G1's are my favorite's of the figures and a few of the G2's were cool to have but I lost interest after they killed off prime in the cartoon movie in order to phase out the old toy line just to release the newer toys. I am also still a nerd myself when it comes to the dukes of hazzard and the original transformers cartoon's!!  :2thumbs:

I was a toy collector for a few years, and some of my favorite pieces are a G1 Galvatron, Megatron, Shockwave and Jetfire that I still enjoy to this day.  I also have some GI Joe, M.A.S.K., Wheeled Warriors, etc.  Along with a lot of Japanese anime stuff like Macross/Robotech.

Here's my GI Joe air and space superiority lineup:

Have you seen the third party Transformer toys?  They take Transformer toys to a level beyond Hasbro's current Masterpiece line and include many favorites such as the Dinobots, Stunticons, etc.  Personally, Galvatron was my favorite T-formers character and I really wanted to get my hands on the ultra-detailed "Mania-King," by Unique Toys, but it's $100 and my toy collecting craziness is pretty much over.  Regardless, try and tell me that this toy doesn't look EXACTLY like Galvatron in the T-formers cartoon:

That's awesome!!! I still have a few of the comic books out in the storage building along with the instruction booklets to most of the originals that I had back in the day. I just recently picked up a nice G1 grimlock and a nice G1 metroplex. I got a set of the re-issue constructicons for like 50 bucks since the set had been opened but it was complete and I never had the devastator toy so I picked them up and they are very good quality for the re-issues. Most of the re-issues I have picked up have been very good quality, I opened them of course to check them out since I was curious about the quality of them. They seem to be as good as an original's since several of my originals had to be super glued a few times!!

That Galvatron looks awesome!!! I have the masterpiece Optimus Prime that was sold by wal-mart and the masterpiece starscream that was also sold by wal-mart. The masterpiece transformers really look nice and there are several of them out there now!! The galvatron figure is one that I had but haven't picked back up since it is an expensive one from what I have found out. I looked last year and they were pricey and I wouldn't mind having a loose one as long as it's complete and still works!! ;D I actually had an original G1 galvatron with the collection I had back then and should have kept them now that I look back but the charger was in need of an engine so the toys had to go!

I wish I had the trailer!!! It's expensive also... That sideswipe looks great but my other favorite than Optimus would be the G1 Jazz. I liked that character in the cartoon alot and have a nice Takara version re-issue of him. I have seen a few of the skywarp's and thundercracker's but didn't have the cash to purchase them at the time. Prime is a favorite and I have several versions of him. I have an original G1, a re-issue of the G1, the 07 prime, the second movie and third movie optimus prime's.

What's funny is the new Ninja Turtles movie is being directed by Bey - and Megan Fox is supposed to be playing April O'Neal.  Maybe he hates her but got tired of not being able to look at her all day.  I don't blame him.

I agree, I lost interest after the 86 cartoon movie. It was very unexpected that they would kill off 99% of the G1 characters!! How devastating for a cartoon movie to destroy all your favorite characters especially Optimus Prime!!!!

Hasbro was a toy company. They killed off the G1 transformers to make room for the new toy line coming in.

Fun Fact:

The same year they killed off Optimus Prime, Hasbro was supposed to released the GI Joe movie. In this movie they also killed off Duke. The GI Joe movie was supposed to come out before the Transformers movie but ran into problems in had to be released the following year. After Hasbro killed off Optimus Prime, so many children got upset that mothers wrote into Hasbro and gave them sh*t. Hasbro quickly went into action and changed the GI Joe movie slightly so that instead of Duke dying, one of the characters off screen (so they didn't have to reannimate a cell) said "He's in a coma".

So if the GI Joe movie was released before Transformers like it's supposed to, maybe kids would have whined at the death of Duke and Hasbro would have saved Optimus  :nana:
