Do any of you have a picture of the wiring connector that attaches to the parking brake switch...69Charger

Thanks for that picture. I'm not sure how this works.......my switch is a push type and when it's pushed the other end of it protrudes from the body of it. I don't see how a bullet connector fits on the switch?

the  parking brake pin switch is the same style as the trunk light one ,   going to take some pictures of wiring behind the kick panel for another thread sometime over the weekend   , so if no one comes up with a picture   , i'll take one of mine   :yesnod:

male connector I posted above goes into the female portion of switch...opposite end of push-pin

twodko

You guys are the best! That is the new switch I just installed. The wire that ostensibly attaches to the end of this switch has no "sleeve", as it were, that should slip over the end of the switch.
Correct me if I'm wrong but the signal path is that when the switch is compressed the shaft makes contact with the "bullet" wire connector which completes the circuit and illuminates the dash light. Yes?

Perhaps, without seeing what the bullet connector looks like, I need a new connector?

sounds as if you are missing the part that the male bullet connector pushes into.

when the brake lever is pushed, the pin comes out and the part that is on the other end where the connector makes contact with ground, which is the threads, then light comes on

Indeed that appears to be the case. Now to find one.

Thanks everyone.

I might have a few here if ya can't find one...I will look tomorrow....

you have the male connector, right? So all you need is the part that it plugs into?

twodko

All I have is the switch pictured in A383wing's post. The wire I have that should plug into or over the end of the switch (like a Bic pen cap?) is clearly missing the end of it that should slip over the switch tail.

Do I have this right?

you can get a terminal like this to replace the original...

or like this

I guess on a grocery store should be available

this is the original... some pigtail donor could be great, solding to the wiring and isolating with shrinking tube

just found also this:

here:

http://theelectricaldepot.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=20_21_22

which includes a shrinking material per description.

but they sell a bag... once again, maybe a grocery store could have them sold in few pieces or per piece

Thank you Nacho. I should be able to find that type of connector at an auto parts store.

On another note........

mmm... everything is alright... protest are still around, and Caracas seems quite often like a desertic city due this ( and we are around 6 millions on city ). We are on a "tensa calma"... calm down but with tension around.

things are worst on Los Andes region ( Tachira and Merida States )

guess I don't know what yer actually looking for now

twodko

You were on the same page A383, just my vague description of the dealio.

I was putzing around with the switch I had already removed this morning. The wire in the car is just half the bullet plug, the business end was broken off in the switch body.   :brickwall:

I'm picking up a new bullet connector tomorrow.
