Thanks for the words, guys.

My wife is one of those unfortunate souls that was born without a filter.   You know, the one that stops you from saying something that is totally wrong or inappropriate.

Here is a good story about her:

When she was 18 years old, at US Army basic training, she and the rest of her squad were looking at the duty roster.  After they found out that their squad had been assigned some of the worst duties, my wife exclaimed (while surrounded by her mostly african-american squad members), "Why do we get all the N*gger work?!"

Like I said....no filters, the shit just comes out.

Wow.  But....somehow you felt compelled to marry this woman so she can't be all that bad...

True.   But you know how it goes, the test drive doesn't always show how the thing is going to hold up in the long haul.

My test drive was great!...the "long haul" started and ended the very next day after I said "I do"....."been there, and done that" as far as what your going thru (ended up being 17 years of hell for me! until the divorce) I've seen it too many times with others in the same boat over the decades,...Sorry, you may have strong feelings for her, but in the end, your best cutting her loose now, rather than later, start planning....because I'm sure she already has, there's and old sayin "Women want what they can't have, and don't want what they got"...that say'in applies to anything in a womens life...don't find yourself outside, looking in :scratchchin:

IMO these situations seldom ever happen when both sides are being reasonable.  It virtually always means one of you (or perhaps both!) is being ridiculous & irrational.  Or at the very least being unfair.

write on the damaged area "my wife did this" and don't repair it. Seriously, I feel for you wish I could give some useful advice. The wrong advice could make matters worse.

Is this the first time her bashing the Charger, or the latest? :popcrn:

Sounds like an all familiar situation for car guys!

An ex-girlfriend of mine a car-chick with a classir car herself, said to me ''if I buy an American car'' (a 70 blue/blue Cuda) that she would leave me.
We were happily living together at the time worked together in the same Chocolate Factory and were best buddies.

I left a deposit on the Cuda and she refused to come a see it.
Then refused to drop me 100 miles to pick it up, caused me loads of grief!

Within a month she was GONE!!! :popcrn:

Guess what, she was seeing another guy and was looking for an excuse methinks??? :yesnod:

I think that goes without saying.  If you really care for someone you should be able to overlook any differences, as grand as they might be.  I dated a girl that was the complete opposite of me when it came to world views (anti-2nd Amendment, pro-Obama, self-proclaimed socialist, etc), but I didn't mind them because I appreciated and accepted her completely and without question.  These days, I think that sort of open-mindedness and maturity is asking too much from most people.  If someone were to fleer and scorn at you for your choice of cars?  Well, I would't give them the toilet paper I just wiped my ass with even if they said "please."

Dreamcar

It's been said before...compromise

If its like my home, there's a very limited number of expensive projects that can happen at the same time. If she's been wanting the kitchen remodel for years, and the Charger has always come first, well eventually the Charger will have to come second to whatever project she wants to do...i.e. the kitchen.

Really, what's the big deal???? Take your Charger out of the garage for a bit, redo the kitchen, and put the car back. Done.

However, if she really does go out to the garage and really does damage to the car, then there's lots more going on than just a difference in project preferences.

Just the latest jab.     :rotz:

You guys have good points, and by all means you are only hearing my side of the story......I'm not perfect, of course it takes both sides to make it work, etc.  Thank you for letting me post a few things to get them off my chest.

I bought the car before we were married, and lamented about the purchase, knowing full well what kind of commitment it would be to get it fixed up the way it should be.

The car sat on the back burner for many years until my kids were older and there was a little more free time to finally start working on it.   I'm domesticated, and I really don' think that my wife realizes how nice she has it in that respect.

The wife didn't lift one finger to help with the Charger, and hastled me constantly about the money going into it, even though I sacrificed alot along the way to make up for it.  Just one example: she got a new car every few years, and I drove her hand-me-down vehicles (my daily for the last 10 years has been a mini-van...I should get credit for that!).  Another: I'm a handy guy, so pretty much all of  the home improvement tasks around the house I do myself, instead of hiring it out.

This is where where the pissing match starts.

I worked my butt off on my car with no support from her, and now she expects me to work my butt off and give her a new kitchen.  It's not fair.   From my perspective, she can do it herself, or hire someone.  Exactly what I had to do with the Charger.

Sorry about the rant....I'm starting to feel like a whiner, and don't want to start leaving bad impressions with you guys.  I've tried to uphold a decent standard on this board, and don't want to hose that up.

Hi HF,

No kinda car will ever replace a GOOD woman!
We all want the best of both worlds.
Some guys achieve it with ease, some never achieve either. (FORD/CHEVY Guys lol)
Everyone needs a good kitchen and a good wife INIT!!!

PRIORITIES FELLA'S.

When you're old and grey (like me) the thought of cuddling up to my Charger on a cold winters night, without a cooked burger and a cold beer is less appealing these days LoL :pity:

Be careful what you wish for?

Divorce is UGLY even an amicable one.

Maybe it's time to have a heart to heart talk with her and calmly point out the sacrifices you've made to get your car to where it's at?

My wife and I oftern discuss the Charger vs. other projects the she prefers. There's often a compromise.

Oh, and by the way, don't listen to Stroker.  I don't think he's ever held a girls hand.

Once a woman is mad at you and is relentless in nagging about stuff, she has in her mind forgotten the reason she married you .. Then a  certain hate starts to grow inside her head then she starts nagging about you to her friends. Eventually she nags to your friends about you that's when its over. Time to realize that life is probably better without her but the CHANGE is a scarey thing .  we all get so comfortable in the situation we are  in cause it is what you are use to. The best thing I ever did was leave my Nurse nagging wife, life has never been better but it took a year or so of a lot of emotional pain.
