This was the words I got some rice burner in his fart can when I stopped at a gas station believe it or not!!!!

ricer: your car is not that fast
me: oh, no its not, but were we racing?
ricer: yeah back awhile ago you didnt see me pass you at that one light (not exact words he used street name I forgot)
me: yeah, but I Just thought you wanted to pass me to get somewhere fast.
ricer: you had to be revving like 6k rpms or something cause your car was very loud when you shifted from first, 2nd, and so on.
me: no I was casually driving saving gas since I was low I usually shift at 1500 rpms to 2k rpms.
ricer: no way dude your car was loud any car that loud had to be shifting 5k plus rpms...
me: no really I was not man...

Is this what goes on in peoples minds when they see a muscle car that we are always trying to race or something and when they pass us, they win?

Years back we were cruising along through an intersection & I seen one of those little Blazer Typhoon, Syclone thingees come to a stop.

It wasn't long & I could see him darting in & around traffic trying to catch me so of course I waited for him.  He made the mistake of gunning his motor a couple times next to me so my buddy motioned for him to go.  Too bad for him I was rolling in 1st & nailed it up halfway through the 2nd shift & obliterated him.

He pulled up beside us & those were his exact words.  My buddy laughed at him.  He kept asking what motor I had & my buddy kept pointing at the front fender badge.  I don't think he ever figured it out.

The best part was he had a chick with him.  Nothing's worse than trying to impress a chick & end up having to drive off with your head hung low.   ;)

I would have asked for a rematch :D

Its always been that way, even before the ricers came along if you had a car that was noted around town you would hear every now and again about someone that crushed you.  It was almost always someone you didn't even know existed.

That would be when the cops would show up and I would be in trouble!   :eek2:
Tomorrow is promised to NOBODY . . . .

What I  Hated bout my old Fox body was either they got crushed and wanted to fight, or the entire time I owned it, all i heard was how 'slow' it was.....The VERY day I sold it, all I've heard since was how fast my old White car was.... even though my Dart is faster???

Those are no joke tho...they are basically Grand Nationals with all wheel drive and a 4.1 liter instead of a 3.8... :yesnod:

Reminds me of the F&F scene:

Dom: What are you smiling about?
Brian: Dude, I almost had you!
Dom: You almost had me? You never had me! You never had your car! Granny shiftin', not double clutchin' like you should. You're lucky that hundred shot of NOS didnt blow the welds on the intake. Almost had me? Now me and the mad scientist gotta rip apart the block, and replace the piston rings you fried! Ask any racer, any real racer, it don't matter if you win by an inch or a mile. Winning's winning.

Lord Warlock

Yep, the youth of today when on the street somehow believe that simply passing another car constitutes a kill, even if the other car doesn't know they were even engaging in anything.  I don't anticipate engaging in stoplight to stoplight fun in the charger when it goes back on the street, brakes just aren't that good compared to new cars.  Its days as a street racer are pretty much over, now i just want to make it last as long as possible without major failure, parts cost too much to take a chance on.  If i want to play racer, i'll take the stealth turbo out and chastise the F&F crowd.

Thankfully, running into situations with kids revving on me has mostly disappeared, they don't seem that interested in challenging a newer hemi r/t challenger, i've never actually had anyone challenge me in that car,  noone even challenged me in the 04 svt cobra when i drove it for 5 years, even though i really wanted someone to try.  Haven't been harrassed on the street since the days when i drove the stealth turbo daily.  (stopped driving it in 2003).

BROCK

Back in the day, I had a guy in a 69 428 Gran Prix pestering me.  I kindly
told him that I wasn't interested in getting into trouble.  Compromise:  We
did 0 - 30mph then 10 - 30mph downtown.  He saw all he needed to know.
His car did not compete.  In the 90s a 68 Camaro had been getting built up
in a carport for months.  I happened by him when he finally got it on the
road.  His 396 did not do him proud that day, so back up on stands in the
carport it went.
I'm agreeing with Warlock though,  I just want to preserve the car.  It's been
mine for 30 years & I'd like to get another 30 out of it!

He may have taken me any other time, I don't know.  It was the perfect launch for me though, rolling along like that in high rpm.  That motor surprises me every time I get into it how much it revs like a small block & likes the rpm's.

Not many admit to this.  But also many years ago my wife & I were cruising my old blue Charger R/T 4 gear on the main strip in Portland.  A Fox body did the same thing behind me darting around cars' trying to get beside me.  I drug my feet though again & we lucked out stopped @ a light.
He obliterated me.   :icon_smile_angry:  First thing my wife says was let's go home & get the other car which I thought was pretty cool.  The other car was my .509 cammed 440 in a Coronet which hauled the mail.

You need louder exhaust, and a cam with more duration...

The best time I had wasn't even a race. Accura comes up and starts revving it's little fart can. As much I like muscle, a good "ricer" will own a lot of muscle cars in the long run, I personally top out at 120mph in my dart with it's little 318. So I did the only thing I could do, I lit the tires up right then and there until he couldn't see through the smoke and turned right at the lights. The look on his face was priceless.  :smilielol:

69wannabe

Few years back I put together a stroked 340 and dropped it in a 68 barracuda fastback that was my buddy's car. It was a street/strip beater with 4.30 gears, a 727 with a 3200 stall and a mopar 509 hyd cam, headers, an M1 intake and a 750 holley DP carb. Somehow it was a beast. The cuda was a screaming street machine and beat out alot of camaro's and mustang's and etc... One guy had a honda of some kind that talked and talked and talked about wanting to race but every sunday when we went to the drag strip he was no where to be found. We finally cornered him up one sunday when he thought we wasn't going to be there and we didn't get a race but my buddy took him down the strip one time in the cuda and that was it for him. Just one ride cured his want to race the old mopar. :yesnod: That was more satisfying to us than beating him in a race. If most of the ricer crowd went for one ride in a good running mopar they wouldn't ever pick a race with one. ;)
