1970 compared to 1972 B-body suspension

I ran into some guy on a non-car forum that liked to think the B-body Muscle stopped at 1970 - much the same way I think they stopped after 1974. We were talking about Roadrunners in particular (which technically continued until 1979?) but the Chargers were (mechanically) virtually the same car in 1970-1972, so I thought I'd ask here. Since he knew my 440 wasn't stock, the only thing I could think of is the suspension and/or body stiffness as a sticking point.

What, if any, are the big differences in performance between the 1970 and 1972 B-bodies? Is there really that much difference in the suspension and/or handling between the 1970, 1971, and 1972 model years??? If so, what are the differences other than the wider track (+3", IIRC) & shorter wheelbase (-1" IIRC) of the 71-72? If anything, I'd think the new footprint would tend to make the 71-72 handle slightly better?

Any comments or thoughts welcome!

It's mostly the same. The big issue is the front sway bar and trying to make 71-74 front disc brakes work.  :Twocents:
73/74 K members and inner fenders can't be inner changed with 68-72.

70 to 72 geometry and set up is pretty similar. As you mentioned advantage of 72 over 70 is wider track width and shorter wheelbase. Also, available factory rear sway bar in 72, and greater likelihood that a 72 would be equipped with disk brakes up front. I don't know if the roll center, etc is markedly different between the two bodies, but having driven and owned both, I prefer the driving feel of the 71-72 body over previous versions with the longer wheelbase. Of course in 73 they ruined the entire performance aspect with rubber isolation of the K-member and axle.
