As stated I can pick this thing up pretty cheap, are they worth a darn? This one is very low use, just for annual boat Christmas light parade a few years. If ya got one or used one let me know if any good. I'm just looking for something that would keep a few lights on and a tiny A/C unit going in one room during an emergency.
It's so small it's almost "cute" so storing it won't take much room and load figured @ 15amps peak it will be under 2000watt continuous cycle rate.  :scratchchin:

I had a Coleman 3500 years ago for power outages.  It did fine until one year we had a bad ice storm that had us without power for 17 days.  It finally died one hour before the power came back on.  As far as portable gas powered generators, their probably as good as any, until you go the high end route (Honda, etc.).  If it has not been run much you may need to rebuild the carb, but no big deal.  Get fresh gas and always turn the gas cock off to run it out of gas when done using it.....

Thanks, Tom is good, about 2 years ago they ran it for power to work on their huge bus size RV. He ran it dry then and won't sell it to me until he verified operation again. I can't find any comps for sale other than a new one on eBay for 395.00? (New or used in Florida.) Tom would like 100.00 for his.  :scratchchin: If I get it it will NEVER see ethanol mix fuel!

For $100.00 you can't go wrong.  Get it!  The ethanol blend won't kill it, but I would definitely use the blue (marine) stabile with it...

:2thumbs: He said 100....OBO.... :scratchchin: I've got a new "WA WA's" selling non ethanol right by me. (The oil looked new but isn't.)

RECHRGD

Yea, for sure change the oil.  Sounds like you'll have a nice low hour unit......

I got a 6500w Generac one years ago...runs the entire house except water heater...used it for 4 days straight here one time...they are real handy to have

What engine does it have in it?
I repair small engines for a living....be careful when considering a small generator. Most of the small ones that are sold at the auto parts & hardware stores are Chinese built. Honda is a different story.
The older 2400-2500 watt Generac, Colemans had the 5HP Briggs & Stratton engine. Very solid engine. I own one myself as well as a 5500 watt w/10HP Briggs that pretty much does everything I need when the power goes out including run my air compressor.

Briggs and Stratton is definitely a reliable engine, if that's what generator has in it-get it.

I got a 3500 for free.   I had to put some carb parts and fuel line into it. Most difficult thing was rigging up a cord to back feed thru the 220 line in my garage.

It ran what I needed to run a couple years ago during a power outage.    I haven't used it since....   reminds me I better go fire it up soon  :P

I'll check what engine it has, I found small A/C units that draw less than 5-6 amps and most of my lighting is LED's now. Time to get Tom and fire that puppy up!
