"Non hub centric" rims?

So I've been looking at rims and keep seeing  "non hub-centric" listings. Today I go to one shop and they say they don't have the adapter for attaching to the lug nut holes to balance tires. Then at Goodyear the guy said no not a problem, the center hole just may be larger than the ridge on the cars hub, the hole is fine for balance mounting.  :shruggy: So who is right? I told them I was getting 15X8 steel rims, nothing fancy. I could see Mag Wheels possibly needing an adapter for balance but close to stock steelies?  :scratchchin:

Generally, any steel rim with a round center hole will fit a balancing machine because the machine has a cone-shaped centering hub. The type of wheels with no round center hole will require a hub with the exact lug bolt pattern to mount to the machine.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Coming from you John, what Goodyear said makes sense.  :2thumbs:
