Hi all, its my first post here, but Ive been following for quite a while. I converted my 68 Charger to a 4 speed and have installed a dash mounted reverse indicator light.  I just bought the harness that plugs into the 2 speed wiper motor harness and my dash harness has been completely restored and put back in the dash that's currently on a stand. Ive studied the FSM and cannot find the wiring on where this goes. Will it need to tie into the reverse lamp circuit that goes to the back of the car? Do I leave the old plug violet/white connected which was the old reverse light switch for my automatic trans?

Dino

The violet/white is the auto trans switch on one end and a pigtail running to your reverse lights so you should hook up the manual trans wires to that pigtail.  Should be a violet wire and a violet with tracer.  You can remove the automatic trans reverse wiring.

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

Thanks for the quick reply, my dash mounted reverse light only has 1 orange wire with a male bullet plug at the end of it. when you say manual trans wires, not sure which you are referring to. Which wires have the violet and and violet with tracer?  Appreciate your help

Dino

Hmm I could swear the wires from the switch were violet and violet with tracer, not a single orange one.  I guess my memory is fading.

Let me look into this and I'll post back.

If you have the fsm, you'll find the wiring diagram for that on the last wiring diagram that is mislabelled as Dart accessory wiring.  It's accessory but its also Charger.

Hmm. I still couldn't find that in my FSM, are you talking about the 68 manual? Do I just pull the purple wire that's currently in the plug that goes to the console harness? Since im switching from auto to 4 speed, I wont need that since the switch isn't there anymore? I cant be the first person who has done this conversion, this has got me stumpedl :scratchchin:

I went by memory (never a good idea) but I thought it was the same in both manuals.  I have a 68 one here and I'll dig it out to double check but looking in the 69 manual, it doesn't show a color for the wire only that it has a tracer and comes from the "Z" on the bulkhead connector.  On the other side of the connector it shows the "Z" also with a tracer.

In my FSM Accessory lamp wiring diagram- dart. It shows the wire from bulkhead disconnect position Z to be 18BK*  This should be the wire to the dash mounted light. It also shows the other wire from the switch on the trans. to be 18V (violet no tracer).
