Front window weather strip substition...

Since I am not looking to do a. Bolt for bolt resto, and I don't see the point in spending $100+ each for those plastic felts with the two plastic retaining clips. 

So...I got to thinking if it would function the same and seal the window if I just used an adhesive backed felt to cover the edge that runs into the vent window channel.  Thoughts...?  I think that $10 is easier to justify than $200.
